So I recently got 20 capsules of Tylenol 3 for pain relief from the dentist. I took a capsule and noticed some pretty nice effects, so I asked my experienced friend if he knew anything about Tylenol 3, and If it was dangerous. My friend got back to me and told me you can extract codeine and get pretty loopy off of it. Naturally, I want to try it. Is there enough codeine in T3 to get high? Is there an easy way to extract and ingest it without requiring a new liver? Is it addictive? Has anyone tried it and got fucked? Has anyone tried it and got fucked up?

tylenol 3 is a mixture of paracetamol (atetominophen) and codeine phosphate. The codeine in it tends to be addictive to people hence the reason it isn't really supposed to be used for more than three days.

Codeine is quite a difficult drug for the medical industry. It is metabolized into morphine. Some people genetically cannot make this change to morphine due to their liver lacking some enzymes. It has been discontinued in the UK for children as some people have an overexpression of the required enzymes and make the change too quickly and essentially get a large dose of morphine (killing some children). The point is that it is a hit and miss drug whether it has an effect or not.

Every drug is dangerous if enough is taken in the right circumstances. Large amounts of the codeine can be dangerous if mixed with alcohol or other respiratory depressants and can stop someone breathing. It would not be wise to do this especially if you have any breathing problems. It can also cause seizures in some. It causes sedation and vomiting so when you sleep you can vomit, aspirate and fail to maintain an airway and thus fail to maintain your life. It wouldn't be a nice scenario to stumble upon.

On the addictivee side. It would be considered quite addictive and dose cause problems in people.

Oh and if your respitory drive fails (or for those who don't understand - if you stop breathing) two of the outcomes are brain damage and permanantly not breathing

Cant say. Side effects of any drug are unpredictable by nature. Drug dosages are precisely worked out by pharmaceutical companies using many complex equations not to mention the decades of research papers and trials to try and decide a "safe dose". Drugs are generally safe to the majority of the population at these doses but there are always instances where things go wrong this can be due to genetic variation, other medicines, medical conditions that's why the majority of medications are obtained by prescription only. Tylenol 3 is probably an OTC med which makes it easily accessible with few questions asked that's why there is a potential for abuse. Make no mistake, just because it is not a prescription med don't think that it isn't dangerous

I took tylenol 3. Listen to me. Do not overdose on it! You can get high. You only need to take a couple pills. If you do, you can get very sick. If you do it too often your liver can fail. Codeine is also pretty addictive. I was addicted to it. Tylenol 3 isn't meant to be taken even daily. Taking it too much overtime can cause signifacant damage to your liver. Just don't take the risk. Plus, your stomach will hurt a lot on and off throughout the day while you are high. All that being said, it did work great for me as a painkiller. I can no longer have it though, so I'm in pain. Use it for its intended purpose.

Codeine, or anything else, is nice if you can get it. But leave it at that..enjoy it when it's there, and let it go

Tylenol contains acetaminophen which I consider to be very toxic.
A few T3's are okay, but too much acetaminophen in your system can kill you.
NyQuil also has acetaminophen.

Oh gosh holy moly.
Tylenol = acetaminophen.

DO NOT EVER EVER EVER TAKE OVER 4 GRAMS OF ACETAMINOPHEN/APAP/PARACETAMOL IN A 24H PERIOD!

Tylenol 3 has 30mg codeine AND 300mg acetaminophen. You need around 130mg of codeine to get a relatively good high off it. That means that it'd take 5 Tylenol 3's. That's 1'5mg of acetaminophen, which you don't really want to take because while it won't kill you it's just unnecessary.
In order to extract codeine, you need to do a CWE (cold water extraction). That's out of this forum's scope (and probably rules), but basically the codeine will solve in water and APAP won't.

However, codeine is an opiate. You'll probably keep seeking for a better high, and end up addicted to oxycodone or hydrocodone. Then it'll be too expensive for you and you'll switch to street heroin. Which is no good.

Be safe!
