What is the major differences between an iPhone 4S and 5S/5C?
I've been thinking about getting a new contract and I want an iPhone but the 4S is cheaper to get on a contract so I was just wondering if there was any major differences that would have me kicking my self for not getting the 5S/5C.
If I was to get an 8GB, can I put my own memory card into it for more apps/music/pictures etc?
I've read somewhere that for someone who wants a lot of apps/music/pictures that 8GB is not enough and I would want a lot of them things.
And lastly, does the 4S work on 4G.
Any advice at all would be appreciated.

I am going to do you a huge favor by letting you know iphones are extremely over rated. I take it you arent very tevh savy get a Samsung galaxy S4 it's the best phon3 on the market. It will be the best decision you've ever made. You're welcome
EDIT: the iphone come in 16 and 32gb I don't know what you are talking about adding memory. Which is why you should really really take a look at Samsung ask anyone who isn't a die hard apple fan and they will recommend Samsung or DROID. Either way I would ask Google shes much better than asking a few people who rarely search their facts on this site.

s4 is garbage too has a snapdragon 600 has an adreno 320 graphics chip and also has touchwiz which sucks. The best phone right now is the nexus 5 hands down. Nexus 5 has a snapdragon 800 which kills the snapdragon 600 and also has a adreno 330
Too answer your original question between the 4s and the 5s there is a pretty big difference the 4s had a 3.5 inch screen compared to a 4 inch the hardware is pretty outdated and not as good as the 5s, also the camera is not as good as the 5s. If you dont care about phones too much then get the 4s it will be fine if you do then dont buy an iphone and buy a nexus 5

I have 16GB of storage on mine, and I can fit 2,000 songs, a few pictures, a few videos, and about 30 apps on there. So as a rough estimate, you might get 1,000 songs and a few apps, pictures and videos.
The main difference between the iPhone 4S and the 5s/5c would be the screen size, the iPhone 5, 5s and 5c have slightly taller screens.
There's a noticeable difference in camera quality, but the iPhone 4S is still one of the best smartphone cameras out there.
The iPhone 5s has a fingerprint sensor for extra security and quick unlocking of your phone, the 5s also features a slow-motion camera for recording video at 1 quarter speed (120fps) in HD.
The iPhone 5s has a "motion co-processor" for tracking your motion which is great for fitness apps - I have mine set to record how many steps I take in a day as a way of seeing how much walking I do, it can do this without using any more battery up.
The difference between the iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5 is very small, so if possible avoid the iPhone 5c and go for the 5 if you were considering the 5c (it would be cheaper that way)
The later iPhones are much faster, you'll probably be fine with the speed of the iPhone 4S, but you may notice occasional lag which wouldn't happen on the 5, 5s or 5c.
The iPhone 4S doesn't have 4G/LTE.
The iPhone 5, 5s and 5c are all significantly lighter, thinner and more comfortable to hold than the 4S.
You mentioned in another post about how you can't add memory to iPhones.. That's true, but 8GB is a fair amount even though it sounds like nothing. You could perhaps consider the 16GB model if it's available?
I've owned the iPhone 3G, 4S, 5, and 5s and they were all great phones, you'll be happy with any of them.

With iPhones you cant expand the memory using memory cards or anything- what you buy is what you get. 8GB is unlikely to last. My iPad is 16GB and it's ran out, hence why I'm getting a new one (it's arriving tomorrow :D ), although I grant that I am a heavy user. As someone else has said, I personally would go for the Samsung Galaxy S4. I do not believe the 4S works on 4G, although the more recent iPhone and Galaxy phones do.

If you are going to spend money on a phone, get the 5s. it's the most up to date. If you really dig into the specs on a 5c, it's just an iPhone 5 with a colored back. A 4s is not a worthwhile investment for a few reasons,
1. It's 3 years old.
2. It has the 30 pin "Dock Connector" (This is both good and bad. Currently there is more accessories for the 30 pin, however more and more things are coming out as Lightning only. A year or so from now it is likely to be difficult to get things that work with the old 30 pin connector)
3. Smaller Screen
4. Slower
5. Basically everything from here goes back to #1. it's the oldest. The specs are 3 years old. Will it work? Yes. Will it be as fast as a 5s? Not even close.
As far as sizing goes, 8gb is also fairly pointless, and I believe you can only get an iPhone 4 in an 8gb. By the time the OS is on there, take off 2gb. So your 8gb phone is really 6, and there is no way to upgrade it once you buy the phone. I had a 16gb iPhone 4 until the 5s came out, then I got a 32 gb. However, even at a 32gb phone, it only has 27.5gb of usable space. I have 2,500 songs, 1,000 photos, 50 videos, 30 apps, like 20 music videos and it still has 7gb free.
I'm not saying the 4s wouldn't work for you, it probably would. My 4 was still great when I was still using it in November, and my brother has it now, still works great. It's just that if you are going to spend the money on a phone, I highly recommend getting something current that has all of the new features and everything. I used my iPhone 4 for four (that's a lot of 4's) years. I only upgraded because I needed space and wanted a better battery.
Not that it's important, but the 5 series phones are a TON lighter than the previous 4 series ones! I was very impressed when I pulled it out of the box for the first time. My 5s with a LifeProof case on it is still lighter than my iPhone 4 was without a case.
4s is not a 4g phone. 5c and 5s are 4g LTE.

The differences between 4 and 5 is bigger screen, and better processor, and when it comes to the 5S, obviously the fingerprint sensor.
Now with the new phone, I would personally go with the 5S because I like the newer things. But if you just want an iphone for what it does, a 4s should work perfectly fine.
For memory, an Iphone has a completely sealed casing that can only be taken off through disassembly and will then void your warranty. BUT there is the cloud which can add a lot more memory but it can cost you more money for more memory.
The 4s does have 4g network, but im also pretty sure that it depends on your Carrier.

I have the 4S and it's been working great for me so far. I was going to get the Iphone 6 but they wanted close to $100 more for it because it had a slightly bigger screen and better camera quality. Go with the 4S. :P
