At the opening ceremony on 7 February, the Slovenian flag will be carried by Tomaž Razingar, the captain of Slovenia's hockey team. This will be the first trip to the Olympics for Slovenia's hockey team and NHL star Anže Kopitar.

The delegation, headed by Petra Majdič, a retired cross country skier, comprises 16 women and 50 men competing in eight sports.

The biggest of all is the hockey team, which includes 25 athletes. The men's and women's ski jumping team has nine members, as much as the snow boarding team.

The alpine skiing team has eight members, while the biathlon team has six and the cross country team five. Three athletes will compete in Nordic combined and one, Filip Flisar, in freestyle.

Hopefully Kopitar and the hockey team does well, seems like hockey's really growing over there thanks to him.

Yes, he plays for the LA Kings. Trust me, I know, he terrorizes my team on a regular basis. But having such a big star in the NHL almost always stirs a ton of interest in his home country. I'm hopeful that Slovenia is becoming the next up-and-comer on the international hockey stage.
