For me personally yes, but it's kind of hard to distinguish between the last few seconds of build up and the first few seconds of the 'point of no return', which can sometimes lead to relatively small orgasms if I had been attempting to hold off and stopped playing. well of course anything is an improvement over nothing. of course it wont be quite to the level of if i had done it properly all the way through but it's definitely a step on the way there from the "dud" that would happen otherwise

The same 'dud' thing can definitely happen to girls, but personally I find if I prepare my body to prevent an orgasm it's not nearly as good if I do accidentally end up having it, and even if I do realize that as I start to orgasm and try to correct, it's still a bit of I dud. I do find my orgasms are stronger when I manage to stop myself before I begin my orgasm, and start again after a small break. Sometimes over and over again.

This is seriously the best explanation I've seen on here. I've tried to explain it before, like comparing it to the difference between itching and pain, but I can never find the right words to qualify it. So thank you! :D
