So i'm a freshmen taking some honors classes at the moment, and my teacher was talking about us going in to AP classes in a couple years. But he said its risky. In what ways is it risky? Just cause it could be harder and your grades may not be as good?

It really depends on what AP class and who's teaching.

Some teachers are super terrible and some are super easy- both are bad because the main goal behind taking an AP class is getting college credit for the class by taking the exam and getting an acceptable grade on it. I was lucky to have two very good and demanding teachers last year which motivated me to work hard and study for that darn exam- lots of work, but if you have the willpower, you should do find. This year I've got two good teachers and one bad one (where I feel that I'm not learning anything... nor gives me any motivation), so I've not yet decided whether or not I'm going to take the exam for that class...

What were the classes you were considering for next year?
Maybe I've taken them and can share some advice/experience...

Luckily for me, my AP classes experience was a relatively smooth one.
I had great teachers that taught the material in a way that I understood best. Yes, it was a lot, and I mean a lot of work, but I don't regret it at all. AP classes look great on your transcript and colleges eat them up. My personal recommendation is you should at least try to take one AP class. If it doesn't work out for you, oh well! It's better to try and find out if it's suited for you. :) Good luck!

The biggest thing is just the rigor of the course. It requires an amount of concentration and work more than any class you've ever taken. I highly recommend it if you're willing to put in the effort, it's one less class you have to take in college so you can get to your major faster, and it's good for preparing you for the kind of work you'll experience in college.

Next year, i'm planning on going into AP World History then onto AP US history, then Econ.
I'm not the best with math so i don't see myself going into any AP math class. And I can't take the AP English Class until Senior Year. I think possibly AP Chemistry/Physics would be interesting though.
