Sad. And to think I gave my support to One Direction. Not anymore. My fullest support will now be given to Tyler Oakley. Goodbye 1D.

I never liked 1D to begin with, but this seems like a really dumb move on his part. Doesnt he have a single clue how many gay fan's of One Direction there are?

He wasn't bashing gays. He supports the show, not necessarily the anti gay comments. The Twitter rant may have been a little much, but he was getting a lot of hate for something a lot of people misinterpreted. I fully support Liam 100%.

God I hate how ignorant and hypersensitive people are today. You've all reached the conclusion that he tweeted a "homophobic" tweet, when such a thing didn't even happen! All he stated was that he liked their business and family values, and that he was a fan of them. Does that mean he supported Phil's alleged "homophobic" ideals? Hell no. For all we know, Liam could have been referring to the way they raised their children, instilled a hard-working mentality into their children, or hell, even how they remain connected as a family. Not once did he say he supported Phil's statement, nor did he say anything against homosexuality. If you still believe that his tweet was "homophobic", you've obviously got your head stuck too far up your ass to look at the facts.

Since some people didn't click the article and went with the misleading title, here's the actual tweet

So what if he supports the show. If that really bothers you I think you truly need to understand that not everyone is going to believe what you do, and guess what, if said people aren't causing a problem (and they're not), shut up or get over it.

People are just overreacting and trying to make a story out of nothing. The only real noteworthy news in that article is the way he ranted afterwards. It'd be nice if people read the article fully before posting a thread here.

My mom is a huge supporter of the LGBT community and also likes their show. She wasn't to happy with what they said but that's what they believe, which isn't a bad thing.

It seems that in this day and age anyone will find some tiny little detail to blow up out of proportion in order to satisfy their gossip circle.

This may just be the stupidest thing I've seen all day.

Oh lorde. The tweet isn't even homophobic. And the person he tweeted wasn't even the one who MADE those controversial comments in the first place.

Even Tyler himself admitted to jumping the gun and starting all that mess.

Actually, that's exactly what Liam meant

Honestly, I've always disliked One Direction. They are and never were a band. A real band is one that creates actual music like the oldies and even the newer ones such as Red Hot Chili Peppers. One Direction is a fucking product created by the media for teenagers. Their music is complete garbage in my opinion...

Before, I simply disliked their music. Now, I dislike one of their members.

I don't think that his tweet was "homophobic", but I think his twitter rant was way overdone, it kind of reminded me of a temper tantrum. I get a lot of people were upset with him, but he should've been able to just say believe what you want and leave it at that.

I get why a lot of people would be upset about his tweet in the first place, though. If anyone shows their sympathies and/or support to someone who's in the middle of a controversy, people are automatically going to think he agrees with the other person's ideals, because that's the main reason why we sympathize with someone.

Do I think it was smart for him to tweet that? No, because it's obvious that gay people would be offended by that and it's well known that a large part of 1D's fanbase is LGBT and their supporters, and of course there would be lashback. Should it be a huge deal? Absolutely not, save the breaking news title for things that actually matter, rather than a tweet.

The group is created by the industry and sings for the industry, not themselves. He didn't say anything wrong. People just overreact. And the rant was too much.

People over reacted. i guess we live in a world where free speech and respect of others opinions aren't accepted.

You are completely right. People are way too sensitive these days and of course people couldn't interpret the tweet the right way, which was Liam saying he liked the way the Robertsons raised their children, instilled a hard-working mentality into their children, and how they remain connected as a family. People have to always find the homophobia in everything these days. Its not like he said he doesnt like gays. He didnt mention anything to do with gay people in his tweet

Huge overreation and the fact that some of you are saying oh I support him before this and now I don't, just prove you never truely supported him to begin with, let him say what he wants, you don't know him, so get over yourself. For the record, I stand behind Liam Payne on this.

I didn't see that as being homophobic at all.....

He said that he liked a show... He didn't specifically say anything homophobic.

The media put things way out of proportion

I think Liam got the lighter side to this, think about Tyler Oakley who received COUNTLESS death threats and horrible HORRIBLE tweets about his mother and other YouTube friends. Directioners are crazy and as soon as someone dares to question a member of 1D. They leap into their skin tight leggings in true super-hero spirit and start typing away hate on twitter like no tomorrow.

i wish people would stop mistaking agreeing/disagreeing with something as hatred.. its really starting to piss me off.

i dont agree with homosexuality, by no means for many reasons. but, i AM NOT homophobic. i have very many friends who are bi or gay.

people need to grow the heck up and realize that they arent in second grade and that just because someone doesnt agree with you doesnt mean that they hate you.

i really could rant on this subject. :/

That wasn't homophobic. Homophobic would be something like Liam saying that he agreed with Robertson's comments. He didn't say that, so no - not a homophobic tweet.

Phil Robertson is NOT homophobic.
he was asked his opinion/beliefs then when he said it they started bashing him.

it all goes back to my previous post
