So I just recently bought a Retina Macbook Pro and it has been amazing I once was a hardcore PC fan but... idk now haha. Everything just always works with my Mac but Pc is still buggy like android. What do you think?

I don't really know how I stand on this. I have a Win7 desktop and have always used PCs but I have iOS on my iPhone and it's nice too. I can't decide which one I like more.

PC because it's cheaper for the same specs. Plus I never liked Mac OS, I prefer Windows or even Google as an OS, and if I knew how to use it, Linux. Apple has great support, but it's more of the layman's company, whereas I prefer to associate myself with more "techy" companies. It's all personal preference, though.

I use a Windows Desktop and a MacBook Pro at home, and iMacs at school. They're both great at some tasks and dreadful at others.
I personally find that art-based programs are much better with Macs, but at the same time I feel that my MacBook pro isn't really worth what I paid for.

I personally prefer PC because PC is a shit ton better for playing games, and I play various games on my computer often.

One of my schools used Macs. It was kinda of uncomfortable for me and I found it just weird to use in general. I much prefer PC as I've used Windows Desktops forever. Technically I only used used Macs for 3 weeks so I'm pretty biased.

I never liked this, people use PCs and MACs for totally different things. Both are good but with their own flaws.

PC is aimed at younger and more technical audience, since it can be open source and be used for modeling and all that. Customizing it to be what you want takes some knowledge.

As for MACs and Apple itself, it's aimed at the more mature audience, the "Luxury" type of electronics. They're simple to use, and very smooth too. Also used in professional grade business for art and modeling more because that's what they're good at, that's what they're for. PC is a "get to know what you're doing, lay back and test new things out." and MAC is "look at me, metal and luxury, I do what your work tells you to do with ease."

I'd always go with a PC for the power and performance, Apple would be cool if they didn't create their computers for $50 in China and then sell them on for $1000.

I personally prefer my PC over my mac. They both have their pros and cons. One thing I really dislike about macs is their price. They are also less "customizable". I must say the Mac is better for video and photo editing though.

Check your facts. We all know $50 is an exaggeration, but the production has been/is being removed from China.

Mac is better for just surfing the web and doing normal things, but PC is better for gaming. Since I'm not a gamer, I like my 2012 MacBook Pro.

On CNET's Download.com:

Windows downloads available: 240,232
Mac downloads available: 21,879

Proportionally, 17% of Mac downloads are paid while only 5% of Windows are paid only.

Mac is suicide.

for schoolwork I prefer a mac but I have grown up on old pcs so I like the familiarity that pcs offer to me. I find them easier to navigate (other than windows 8) and they are more affordable

I prefer linux, im able to do anything I can on windows, but it's faster (windows I get 2-30kb/s transfer from hdd to sd but on linux I can do the same but at 30mb/s it's also a much smoother experience as long as I'm not tinkering around with anything.

with wine and playonlinux I can do anything I can on the PC just about, except for origin which I need to patch in order to use.

my windows applications and games run just fine, infact older games like simcity 3000 run more smoothly than in windows. and If I want I can repackage my installation into a new iso so I dont have to reinstall all my games and stuff if something were to happen.

PC. u can make ur own pc by building it on parts .u can always upgrade it and u can play games on it without buying steam or origin just so you can play games.. in general its better .faster most of the time and cheaper also , you can always upgrade anything or change anything without changing the whole computer or going to a shop to get it fixed if something happened .

#TeamPC. I've tried a Macbook for 1 week and I couldn't, I like my files and items neat and organized and I never really felt like Macs did that for me. One thing I have to say about Macs is the retina screens are beautiful.

Well I've got a late 2013 iMac 2.9 Ghz which is nice but it's really not intended for gaming so I'm saving up for an Alienware. The Mac will do Minecraft and Starcraft II just fine but any other games like garysmod and such don't play nice with Mac.

I would 100% go for a PC every time, but since I build my own....its more than easy to build a dual boot Hackintosh..... ;)

I agree that Apple products tend to be more stable, but as both a Mac and PC owner, there are SO many downsides to owning a Mac other than price. At least as your main computer.

-Gaming is mostly impossible
-It's hard to find software, especially downloads
-Explorer>Finder
-Closing programs and finding programs is more complicated

I personally like both, but I think I prefer PC

Neither. I'm a Linux girl. (;

I've used both Windows and OSX, though, and I think both are honestly just good for different things. I found the Mac OS to be more fluid and generally more pleasing to use (particularly because it runs on a Unix core, which is super helpful when it comes to the nitty-gritty techy stuff I primarily have done on Linux,) not to mention the fact that the GUI is sexy as hell. I liked Windows for compatibility reasons; unfortunate as it is, most games don't run on Mac or Linux, so I have to open up my Windows partition when I want to game or what have you.

Seriously, though, you should try Linux! It's a free system that comes in about a thousand different forms. Ubuntu has a sort of Mac-like feel, but is incredibly customizable, which may please the PC fan in you. It's also got comparatively fewer viruses floating around because nobody uses it, haha.

I tried windows 8 and it made me want to shoot myself. Is that shit actually marketed as user friendly? I know more about computers than anyone at my school and absolutely could not figure out how to navigate that interface to save my life. It belongs on a phone, not a computer. I'll stick with my penguin buddy, tuvm.

Though I see what you're saying, I still prefer windows.
Windows main problem currently is resource usage, windows 7 just eats 500-1024MB of ram easily without programs open as well as a fair amount of CPU usage.
However, assuming you have 4GB+ RAM and a decent processor (at least a 2.0+ghz dual core) this won't even serve as any kind of problem.

That aside, the thing that really sets Mac behind is the fact you're dropping at least ~$1200 on a laptop that will struggle to last you 2-3years before becoming quite outdated compared to more up to date models. Going with Windows, a $600-700 laptop will last about just as long in the aspect.
If you switch over to desktops the problem is even more visible for Mac, not being able to simply swap out the CPU for a ~$200-300 upgrade means having to get a whole new model every few years costing well over $1000.

Costs and efficiency aside, Mac is terrible for gaming. The odd game that happens to be supported usually (in more than most cases) runs slow and is almost unplayable from what I've heard. That gets you thinking, what can it do?
Sure, it can browse the web (which I found to be glitchy as hell when I used a mac, using Safari), you could maybe watch a movie.. Other than that it's more a case of anything it can do (video editing, live streaming, picture rendering, general word processing, etc) can usually be done better with windows and correct setup at a cheaper cost.

I agree that windows>mac, but Linux>>>>>>>>>>>>everything.
A nicely set up linux distro like Fedora or ArchType beats both Windows and Mac in security, resource allocation, speed, hardware compatibility, and, best of all, price! It's free!
Not to mention those customer service guys at Microsoft and Apple are absolutely useless. But the guys on the linux forums? They know what they're talking about.
Prettymuch the only areas in which Linux lacks are progam/app compatibility and new user friendliness. But almost all major windows/apple apps have a linux equivalent that's just at as good, if not better. And most "Windows only" games can be set up to run on Linux with a little work, and the help of Wine or some other such program.

Sorry, went on kind of an overenthusiastic fanboy rantish type thing. :D It's not my fault I love Linux so much. They shouldn't have made it so damn good!

All except hardware compatibility i agree with for the first part. Sadly linux can be bad with drivers at times, which can result in quite annoying problems.
I personally have used Ubuntu and CentOS though, however that was only on a sever. Though I'm great with linux, I personally still prefer windows as you don't run into as many random compatibility problems with developers not making programs for both platforms. I guess that's some what of a loaded opinion though, as if those programs were all still available and worked well on linux, i would certainly make the switch. Wine is great and all, but it really is quite a hassle when there's (in my opinion) an easier way. That been said though, if I had to pay the $159 or how ever much it is now for Windows, I'd have gone with Linux for sure..

That aside though, my post you quoted was still also saying the great qualities of linux setups, hardware wise. Linux or Windows PC are extremely easily to upgrade with a bit of know-how. Just one simple purchase can turn your computer from a ~5year old computer to mid-range up-to date gaming PC.

I agree with you! I used to be all pc, but now i have the Retina MBP and love it. I think the operating system is just more efficient in terms of how things work and such. :) Now when my parents or anyone who needs tech help on pc asks me something it's hard to find things because mac is so much simpler. I absolutely adore the 'spotlight' because you can find virtually anything in a matter of seconds anywhere on the computer just with a simple word search. It also includes emails as well which is nice. With pc if you wanted to search the entire pc it took minutes at a time to do a full search. I also like how all files and things are grouped in the finder and with pc i feel like there are so many windows and options and other things to dig through... Just my opinion and input. :)
