Hello, my life isn't bad, I mean its good but , well me and my friends smoke every saturday and friday and drink on saturdays, but my family expects too much from me. I don't know, they expect me to be some successful basketball player, I am tall yeah for my age, but I don't know drinking let's say 1 litar wine per saturday and smoking 1 pack of cigarettes on saturday and friday will that affect my basketball career or will I lose concentration ? And there are some times when I really get out of control and drink a lot, by a lot I mean really a lot, one night I had 1 litar vodka and 2 litars of wine I really passed out got my self into hospital
I am 14 years old btw, and really need some help and don't tell me to go to doctors or something or talk to my family, they don't know that I smoke and drink on saturdays, I sober up then go home.

Thanks.

I suppose the question is - do you want to play basketball? If you do then I'd cut out the smoking right now - it's going to screw your chances with that. Drinking some is fine, but too much too often is a bad thing, however, if you're only doing it once a week then personally I don't think it's a major problem. Are you a little too young for it? Ofcourse - so be careful, it could cause slight problems, but just stop the smoking if you want to keep playing basketball.

If you want to stop it all together, stop hanging around with these friends - get yourself away from that situation where you would be drinking and smoking, and that will hopefully lead you away from the habit and onto other things - better things.

Unfortunatly 1 litre of Vodka and 2 litres of wine does not count as some (and would be considered sort of a major problem.)

If you're only 14 (not going to nag the legal side of things here) your liver isn't full developed meaning A)You are going to demolish it with this amount of alcohol and B)you can't handle larger amounts of alcohol.

The liklihood is that by drinking this much you will give yourself alcohol poisoning and pass out. Any vomiting when passed out can kill you. Chances are that if you keep this amount of alcohol up you will be ending up in hospital with you (or your family) being given some rather bad news.

damn ur way too young to get waisted like that... i always drink... every weekend, and 3 or 4 times during the week... but i never been in a dangerous situation and never had any problem with that.. i control my self
i practice sports... but i know that if i ever want to go pro, i need to stop drinking... annd obviusly in ur case, stop smoking... not to mention is not good for u anyway

another key is what scott says.... do u want to be a basketball player? or just play?

If your smoking cigarettes i'd cut that out, there's a ton of shit in there that's not good for you. As for the drinking i'd say just slow down a little, have a couple glasses max.
