Hey,

I have a nexus 4 and it's known that it's battery life is worse than poor. However, browsing this forum on it really drains the battery (quicker than playing a game), it also gets really hot if the battery is near full (so hot that it has to shut off to prevent damage). Anyone else noticed this?

Hmm, the only mobile device I have tried to use VT on is a 3DS....

At least that eliminates all the background crap running. Who knows what android is doing in the background..

Perhaps it is because Android is running extra applications? Simply head to 'Task Manager' and hit 'End All'. This problem is the exact same as my Samsung Galaxy Prevail. Only thing is the heat issue happens when it's plugged in and I'm using it. It's a battery issue, maybe bring it into the shop? As for VT, maybe running Tapatalk is making connection expensive (battery-wise).

So yeah. (Nice name, btw.)

I have a Nexus 5, I use chrome and mine never gets to the point it needs to shut down. Maybe it could be your brightness is high or you have a browser that is processor heavy and causing the phone to get hot.

That's the weird thing though. I only ever have Skype, Facebook messenger and chrome open. It's possible that it's one of those though.

Brightness is as low as it can go, sometimes I use a filter to save more battery. This phone has never been great, I heard that the nexus 4 was made from "binned" parts, so maybe I just got an unlucky one

Well Google Chrome is very demanding on processors. Try Firefox instead. That might help, at least a little bit

No. That is really weird. I would call your retailer.

Are you running the latest firware KitKat? Updates can sometimes improve app management and help improve battery life. I would suspect Skype to be the main suspect you should check in Settings-> battery and see what's using all your battery or like you said you could have a defective Nexus.

Usually the battery lasts longer if you lower screen brightness

I dunno, but it works fine on Nintendo DSi and IPod touch 4th gen 32gb. Wow iPods have a really long name. Lol

Oh, just realised u said mobile device insted of just mobile. Any way, I'm using my iPhone 5c now, and yeah it drains the battery like hell!!! I've been on it for about an hour straight, started at 57% full, it is now 8%!!! And the site in General is really slow too...

Have you tried turning your screen brightness down?

Have the same phone, never had a problem with this forum;o

Edit:

At least that eliminates all the background crap running. Who knows what android is doing in the background..

Turn developer options on (google how to) then simply disable background processors in developer options?

Also, turns out this forum has a mobile version - Scroll down the bottom till you see a drop down menu (it should say "Forever Blue" by default), click it and select Mobile.

Thanks, I'll try a different browser. And yes my screen is the dimmest it can go. I use MIUI which is still on 4.2.2 for some annoyingly strange reason
