A lot of straight guys use it to describe something as being dumb or stupid, and even I've used it like that when I'm around straight guys too. Was just wondering your guys' take on it and if it being used like that offends any you?

Not sure how to feel about it right now myself, its weird though cuz I'm starting to let it get to me especially when guys I like say it. Just kinda feels like a put down almost even though I know its not intended as such.

I dont like it at all, the same way I hate people calling things "retarded". It's fundamentally the same thing as saying "OMG, I'm losing at Call Of Duty, thats sooo Black"
At the end of the day, whether it's meant in a harmful way or not, It's still associating Gay with Bad/Wrong/Stupidity.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not the type of person to flip out if someone uses it or call someone out, it just annoys me

Here where I live is not very common to hear someone calling something "gay" because it's stupid or dumb, but yes, it can be quite offensive. People tend to associate the word "gay" with negative things.

I don’t think it bothers me i just think its a word, i think it depends on the intention of why the word was said, where I live if some one says "I'm away for chinky" it means there going to get a Chinese takeaway but in other places the word is very offensive, but as I said its intention not the word its self... that’s my opinion anyways

It doesn't bother me at all. Yes, it's immature, but it's not that by of a deal in my opinion.

I do hate being called gay, as I am a bisexual myself. I have had sex with a boy and 2 girls. It infuriates me as I don't like people calling people 'gay' because it's homophobic, and 'technically' I am gay (well bisexual.)

Hearing people use the word "gay" as a derogatory term does offend me. Fortunately, I haven't heard anyone actually say that in person since elementary school.

People say it all the time here, I make a special effort not to and don't think I have since year 7 when I wanted to be socially accepted.

I don't get offended, it does annoy me but then most of society annoys me. And at the end of the day, who gets hurt because you get offended by it? Just you. Ignorance is bliss in the end...

The word gay began being used as response to homophobia cuz it means "happy", then gay began being used negatively as homophobic response to gay rights

So yeah it is offensive when used like that. That's the whole point

Hearing it dozens of times every day in place of "stupid" makes me feel hated

I don't understand why it's so bad to be happy? XD

I really don't like it at all. Hearing someone say things such as, "that's gay" or "hah gay" make me cringe. Like, you know I'm gay and I can hear you. Stop.

It annoys me when people use it as an insult, it also annoys me when people define people as being a "gay person". Being gay is only a small part of their lives and being gay shouldn't be the thing that defines them, that really annoys me and those are the only reasons it bothers me :)

It only bothers me when it's used as a derogatory term. If you're not going to use it properly, don't bother saying it at all.
