Does anyone know of any good face washes or anything to get rid of acne ? I have tried over 10 different face washes and nothing helps. I even got cream from my doctor and it didnt work at all, it even made it worse. My doctor says it is probably just puberty and my hormones but i want to find a way to help get rid of it or at least clear it up a little. :what:

There are some tablets here in Australia that the doctor can prescribe, a couple of my friends have them. They work a bit, but also Proactiv seems to be all the rage at the moment. It's not that cheap man, but what ever works.

It is because of puberty. Do not worry they will vanish mate. But if you want them to disappear you may want to use some special soaps or tablets.

I use a face cream called Halibut, it works great, but it's made by a Portuguese pharmaceutical company, so you probably don't have it there. Acne appears due to hormones, there's no way you can get rid of all of it, but avoid touching your face with your hands, always wash your face after exercising (especially if you're sweaty), make sure to keep yourself hydrated and wash your face with normal soap when showering. It might help.

Puberty is tough on many with acne. My sister had it really bad when she was around 15-16 and tried using many medications. If you're looking for a face wash, look for one that has exfoliants in it. Even most acne treatments wouldn't work for my sister so eventually she had to use a special acne creme prescribed by the doctor. Which in your case didn't seem to help... You can help keep down the inflammation from acne but not totally get rid of it if you've already exhausted all your options. :) Not to worry though, acne is normal and you shouldn't have to feel ashamed by it. Some just have it worse than others!

Just wash your face at least twice a day. A lot of products for me don't work but one that works really well is Axe Chilled cooling face wash, and it leaves your face feeling fresh, rather than dry and "tight", like other washes

EDIT: Heh, I actually managed to miss the bit about how you went to a doctor. Leaving the content alone because it is still relevant.

What is the cream that your doctor prescribed you? I would expect retinoin. The thing about creams like that is that they usually make acne much worse before they make it better. You have to suffer through it for a bit and *keep using it*. Otherwise it'll never work. You can't stop if it starts making your acne worse.

Acne is a medical problem that you can and should discuss with an actual doctor. They'll likely refer you to a dermatologist. If you find a good dermatologist, they 100% *can* help you. Depending on the severity of your acne they can start you off with prescription retinoin creams and potentially antibiotics if it is bad enough. They'll want to taper off the antibiotics once your acne is under control. If you can't get it under control via those means and the acne is severe enough to negatively impact your life, they might suggest isotretinoin -- a particularly dangerous medication that usually *cures* acne. It's a pretty risky medication, but it's the only thing that is known to actually cure acne.

Proactive is mostly benzoyl peroxide, just like the most effective drug store creams. Its popularity is solely because of its marketing. Similarly, 'natural' treatments haven't really shown any particular effectiveness.

In any case, there are tons of options, but a doctor can help you make the decisions that are right for you.

Furthermore, acne doesn't always 'just go away'. I've had severe cystic acne since I was 16 and it shows no sign of slowing down as I enter my 20s. It really just depends on the severity of and type of acne.

Hope you get it sorted out! Best of luck!

I have acne problems too, I hate it, but I've heard that treating it in some absurd way with potatoes or something makes it a lot better and works within days. I think it's in article on Wikipedia, I'll have to check it again, I would want to see for myself, cuz they say it's a miracle cure for pimples.
