Where would you rather live and why? I would rather live in my own society because I get to be free. I'm interested in your opinion :D

EDIT: Right now I realized what you meant.
Maybe a system where you are used where you are the best or a socialist/communist republic?

Our society, it's perfect.

Honestly, although I want to be able to say definitively that I would prefer the (relative) liberty of the society in which I live (that is to say, [-]mostly[/-] conditioning-free), I imagine that, were I living in the blissful ignorance of Huxley's World State, I would undoubtedly prefer that, and the novel seem so shockingly ridiculous to us that I am honestly too biased to say. Regardless, from my current perspective, I think this is preferable, though Iceland is a perfectly pleasant country.

Our society, it's perfect.

I have to ask, are you actually living in the World State? If not, where on earth have you found this perfect society, and are there entry visas?

Crowley's world, no doubt.

Given that it is commonly debated that we even possess free will, I'd be ready to give up what semblance we have and just let myself be guided where I can be most useful via a caste system.

But even better - I'd live in Plato's Republic, for certain.

Well, provided you live in the western world, or a large part of the east. Your conditioned a lot anyway, the only difference is your conditioned to hate your own body, to behave a certain way, to buy certain things, to be a certain type of person so that it makes things "easy" for all, however people in BNW people are conditioned to be extremely happy, there lives are perfect so far as they can tell, everyone happy being an Alpha+ or an Epsilon. The only reason Bernard hated it was because of alcohol in his incubation, anyway. Only problem is I would live hear in my world, my friends all say I am the one in the group most like Bernard Marks....so, ye...
I would want to live here, the world state, no matter how seemingly nice, i feel one would become simply another mindless drone....not much change from this one but still.

I'd rather live in a society where I am free to make my own choices.
America and the western world is heading into a 1984/Brave New world type situation.

I agree it sounds like a place I'd like to live. And if everyone could have the same views you agree with that would be great. But the thing is no one agreed to the rules. They will have a view which is slightly different. And it would build up. Living in a society with no restrictions would be hell. you have to actually think that you couldn't tell someone who is raping a girl that he is doing something wrong.

By making my own choices I mean with in reason so long as it hurts no one nor infringes on the rights of others.

A 1984/Brave New world type of society would be where the state has all power and controls you ands what you do in your life right down to what you think and believe.

No thanks that's not a world I wanna live in!

Such a rigid caste system is literally impossible to make work in real life, so I settle with the next best thing.
