Has anyone else seen this movie? I absolutely loved it, and if you dont take my word for it, just look up all of the critical acclaim it's recieved... And BTW, I'm talking about the original film from 2008, not the remake Let Me In 2010 (also good but nowhere as good as the original). It's a hard film to place in any particular genre, but it involves a Vampire, that's all I'm saying.... TRUST ME It's a great film if you havent already seen it/read the book. And dont worry, it's as far from Twilight as possible XD

Remakes have the habit of completely making a mess of it and leaving fans crying in corners. I wonder how many people went into mourning when The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake was released.

The remake was ok...also I forgot to mention something in my OP...I know Kodi Smitt McPhee, who played Oscar in the remake :3 I swear on my little heart that that's a fact

I never saw that remake but a friend did. I noticed in the film they never mentioned that Eli was actually a boy, which was kind of surprising. Ooooh don't you move in high circles :P Haha no that's really cool :) I'm hesitant to watch the remake, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake gave me a hatred of Hollywood remakes in general. Rooney Mara will NEVER be Lisbeth Salander :P

As much as I hate remakes, particularly American ones, Let Me In was actually surprisingly good :) But yeah, Eli has been with a girl called Abby :what: that kinda sucked...I liked how he was a boy, it made the relationship have more substance

Yeah it kind of made a surprising twist at the end because they'd referred to Eli as a girl all through the book and it made Oskar question himself.

I liked how Eli is the only carachter who is actually sympathetic....even Oscar had things about him that were rotten (which is realistic), Poor Eli was just an innocent kid who got his boy-parts sliced off and turned into a vampire :'(

Yeah poor kid :'( There aren't a lot of proper horror films with vampires that actually have you on the side of the vampire. I mean even when Eli goes on a killing frenzy of Oskar's bullies you just think 'look how he defends Oskar'.

I absolutely adore that movie. It was the first foreign film I'd ever seen, and is one of the few movies I'd call perfect, and even better than the book, which was only alright. I haven't seen the American remake Let Me In, and don't plan on. The original just can't be surpassed no matter what, and I also prefer Eli being a boy secretly. It added another massive layer of depth to the story.

I know right? I think the reason they changed him to a girl is because American audiences wouldn't have been as accepting as the European audiences

It's somewhat horror, but it's not about that. The story is actually very good. Did you get the original version or the american rehash?
