Is it just me or are dystopian novels the ONLY new novels being released for teens? They're literally the only book genre available in my local book shop. Now don't get me wrong some dystopian novels can be amazing, I love the dystopian world Malice. But seriously after The Hunger Games it's like authors went dystopia crazy. Thoughts?

There's tons of dystopian YA, no doubt. I'm so sick of seeing the same thing over and over, I now avoid the genre entirely.

I love that series.
OP: I'm going to have to agree with you. I'm pretty tired of seeing dystopian novels especiacially when they all have the same basic storyline. But oh well, whatcha gon do bout it.

I liked Gone by Michael Grant. I don't know if it is dystopian but Battle Royale is awesome.

I loved The Hunger Games, but haven't found any really good ones since. Recommendations, please?

A lot of them are basically a copy of The Hunger Games but the Gone series are brilliant.

I actually liked The Hunger Games and think they were pretty decent books ( the first two, anyway ). They're also the only Dystopian YA series that deserved the hype it got. I've read a few others, most recently the Divergent trilogy and it was...pretty bad. So yeah, I'm burned out on them. Read one series, read them all.

Would this be in Easons or Hughes and Hughes? I'm not much of a reader at all, but one thing I can say is that both of those chains are utterly shite for selection, I was In an Easons "Book Shop" yesterday in co. Meath, and literally only 20-25 percent of the shop had books. The rest was magazines, school supplies and printer ink  Of the books they did have, it mainly cookbooks, trending adult fiction and teen dystopian novels....I can really see where you are coming from here

I understand where your'e coming from. I have nothing against dystopian novels, in fact I adore the Gone series and the Ashfall series. However it's all these hunger games clones that i can't stand.

Yes Easons is one of the worst, in my local one there is literally one wall of books and for some reason a quarter of the shop is overpriced food. The other bookshop in my town decided to scrap their teen section and replace it with one narrow bookstand in a corner.

The Hunger Games clones are just the worst. There's all these book reviews saying how amazing they are when they're really just watered down versions of The Hunger Games.

Mmhm  the cover of Divergent was enough to turn me away. I wonder do cover designers just get bulk orders of photos of girls in agony, because that's all I'm seeing lately.
