I want to try weed, but I'm not sure if it would be worth the bother trying to get it from all the stories from people saying it's "amazing". Is it really worth it?

I'm not sure where you live, but:
when something is illegal, don't do it.

I personally don't see why using drugs in general is fun. Like, have any of you tried eating pizza? Or going on Tumblr? Exactly. I know it's really difficult to overdose on Weed but it's still somewhat damaging and addictive, not to mention illegal in some countries. So I would say no, but if you want to, there's not much I can do to stop you.

It's easily addictive and illegal in the majority of countries; I certainly would not recommend it.

The thing with weed is that people react differently to it. If you are prone to addictio then it can be addicting, however, weed- the marijuana plant- is not addictive; what's addictive is the rolling paper which is laced with tobacco and in some cases nicotine.
Anyway, I have done it twice- there is nothing special about it, I hated it, and as to not go into a story, as t is against the rules, you can PM me for details. I would not say that I am for or against trying but what I will say is that if you choose to try do it with someone you trust and be careful and pay attention to any reaction you may have

Well personally I haven't found it to be dangerous or addictive. But that's me, and every individual person is different. What isn't harmful or addictive to me, could be to someone else. Especially someone that is underage.
I am a card carrying medical marijuana patient in my state in the US, so I am able to purchase and use cannabis legally. I use it to alleviate the symptoms of my chronic migraines. I also no longer have to take daily migraine medications (with some nasty side effects). That is primarily why I use cannabis.
As far as psychoactive effects go, it's not quite what you see in the movies. A lot of people say they feel happier, more relaxed, or feel more hungry or tired than normal. People also say it intensifies some of their sensory perceptions.
I believe in openness and honesty when it comes to talking about drugs. While it's true that cannabis (or weed or whatever you want to call it) might not do any serious harm, it's important to remember that it is not harmless. Some people can become psychologically addicted to the drug, and find that it causes problems in their lives. There are also studies that show that young teens who use marijuana can have permanent memory impairment. I would also assume that it is illegal where you live.
It's up to you to look at the information out there and make your own decision, but personally I cannot advocate that you break the law. I also think that you are probably too young to use cannabis safely (if you are under 18). My suggestion would be that you avoid cannabis for now.
Edit: Also worth mentioning is the fact that I have made a personal choice not to smoke my medicine. When I take my medicine, I take it in non-smoked forms. Smoke of any kind is harmful to your lungs.

If you live in like Amsterdam where it's legal, then it's no big deal, but if you are in the US or a lot of other places like me, then I wouldn't especially if you're in sports and/or other school related activities.
Even though weed is no big deal when you look it it, it can have some harmful effects. If you have an addictive personality, you can become addicted to it even though Marijuana is not addictive at all. It's also a gateway drug. It's possible that your body will start to become used to the drug, and the high won't happen again. Before long, you'll get introduced to something that IS addictive and actually very harmful.
My advice in a nutshell is, if you're going to smoke pot just a little bit (2 or 3 times), go ahead. If you want to make it a regular thing, do not.

To the people saying dont try it why not? Give it a try see if you like it or dont personally i dont like it but do it maybe 3 times a year. You cant go your whole life without trying things people say are bad. Also there are i think 16 states now that have made week legal. So i say give it a go see if you like it and if you dont like it dont do it but if you do like it just dont do it very often.

Holy shit most of these people are wildly ignorant. A few things you need to get straight
1. You can't overdose on marijuana. You just can't. It's happened literally zero times ever.
2. You can't really get physically dependent on weed, but it is possible to develop a mental dependence/addiction.
3. It's probably illegal wherever you live, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be hard to get or that you definitely shouldn't try it. I'm not advocating doing illicit substances, I'm just saying.
4. If you DO end up trying it, I'd recommend smoking with a friend, so that way if you get kinda freaked out or paranoid it wont be bad. And make sure to take it slow, it's fucking scary when you get way too high on one of your first times.
Overall, it's up to you to try it. I occasionally smoke with friends, but only occasionally.

Also, to the guy who said that smoke of any kind is damnaging to your lungs... That's true, CO is evil. But we constantly breathe CO, pollution is everywhere nowadays. So weed smoke isn't any worse than going outside and breathing.
The harm of smoke is overrated because of cigarettes. Cigarettes' smoke is the worst shit ever, but it's not because of CO, it's because of cyanide, nitrosamines, and the other 4000 chemicals that Big Tobacco put on cigarettes to make nicotine more addictive and god knows what else.
Surely CO is bad, but if you compare it to all the pesticides and chemicals in cigarette smoke, it's nothing.
Also most people smoke 20 cigarettes a day. I don't think you smoke 20 joints a day. I used to smoke one bowl once a week. Not even smoking one cigarette a week would be harmful.
But of course you're right, surely non-smoked weed is better, but for me all the investment I should do on a vaporizer or the time I'd waste in cooking isn't worth the slighly reduced health risks lol.

Go ahead, give it a try. Most people try it, my mum admitted she'd done it (i nearly fell off my chair), I've done it twice. It can be fun! Just don't smoke to much otherwise you'll start going paranoid and it gets kinda scary. Also do it with a friend around, so if you're feeling a bit sick or something then he/she can help you.
Smoke Safely! Have Fun!

You see, the common (but not uniform) opinion that I'm seeing in this thread is that weed is bad and you shouldn't smoke it because it's illegal and bad for you. These things, of course, are not true. (except the illegal part)
It isn't really a question of whether or not it's "worth it" because smoking weed isn't some big commitment that you begin once you take your first hit. If you're a person of average intelligence and you're not careless, weed will most likely not be a problem for you, unless you're stupid with it, and it's not hard to be stupid with it. It's not hard to not be stupid with it either. By being stupid with it, I mean smoking with people that don't think through consequences before they do things, or smoking in very public places for your first time. Both of those things are not smart to do at all.
If you're really trying to do it, hit up one of your buddies that smokes (preferably an experienced smoker) and be like "hey man, I've never smoked before and I wanna see what it's like, do you mind I smoke with you sometime?" and I can guarantee that they will say yes. And if you try it and don't like it, oh well. It's not traumatizing and nobody is going to make you do it again.
I seriously can't stress enough that weed is not a big deal. It doesn't ruin your body and it doesn't ruin your life. I can almost guarantee that you have been given false information by an authoritative figure about marijuana in your life at least a few times. If you're worried about being drug tested, THC will stay in your system no longer than a few days if you smoke for your first time and leave it at that. It doesn't hurt your lungs. It's not a gateway drug. It doesn't make you stupid, it makes you high. You hear a lot of people say that "weed ruins lives" but rarely do you actually see it happen. Sure, some stupid people can ruin their lives because they made stupid decisions involving weed, but it's not like it manipulates you to do bad things. People who like to do bad things do bad things, not necessarily marijuana smokers.
That whole post is kind of all over the place but I'm sure you'll get the point.

Ok, to clarify I'm not encouraging anyone to do weed in any sort, just putting my opinion out there.
First of all, from experience it is quite amazing. Second it doesn't mess you up big time, you don't get addicted to the substance itself but to the feeling which can be dangerous, because then you can in theory create a type of addiction. You will not become stupid.
Most people who get stoned have been stupid before they even started doing it. The reason to why kids that aren't as intelligent usually don't hesitate to try is because in theory if it made you dumb, they would have nothing to loose. Now I am considered a stoner, yet I have kept my grades up for over a year now, I have a job, and preform a sport, and I am still able to fully preform all of those activities.
The reason to why you shouldn't do it, is not because it will make you stupid, or mess you up. But because it is ILLEGAL, therefore if you get caught you could be in serious problems. There are legal ways to obtain it, Colorado for instance, or Washington, in California is legal to a medical degree only, so you would need a doctors prescription to legally obtain it. It is legal in Uruguay, and essentially legal in the Netherlands, in many other countries is it still consider illegal but the use has been decriminalized.

I'm not going to condone it, my brother smokes 4 or 5 times a day, and it made him a greedy, selfish, asshole. I;m also not going to say I've never done it. Hell, I took a few bong rips on new years. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Would I ever make a habit out of it? No.
I may be bashed for this, but so be it.
If you want to try it, no one's stopping you. But for the love of the flying spaghetti man, don't do it all the time! I was addicted to pills when I was younger, and it destroys your life. Your entire existence will be exclusively for the purpose of finding more. Sometimes drugs can be a good learning experience. Sometimes, not so much.
Just bear in mind what everyone here on VT has said. You asked and we answered to help you.

^^^Last year half my class smoked weed. They smelled bad, and they were awful people when they were high. I personally don't get why you would do it, cause it can make you feel better about things or whatever, but once the high goes away I can imagine you feel just as crappy as before, maybe even worse, and it's addicting. But I mean, do what you want. It might have different affects on some people, and I've never tried it so don't take my word for it >.<

if you're going to do it, do it with friends you trust in a safe environment. if you can get your hands on a vaporizer do it. You won't be inhaling any crud that way - makes for a way better experience

Listen to the song "weed with Willie" by Toby Keith. It's a funny way of putting it. And btw, it's talking about Willie Nelson.
