for awile before he (killed himself) he was fighting with his wife and was going to get a divorce him so i personaly think that he was killed by a hitman because of the ammount of heroin in his system that he could not even move so how would he pull the trigger but anyway this is my opinion but im going to post some links below and see for yourself

The whole idea that Courtney killed Kurt is a bunch of bullshit. Kurt had been taking heroine for years and had built a high tolerance. They weren't actually going to get divorced, this was just a stupid conclusion asshole Tom Grant had come to by himself from Kurt's suicide note. Furthermore, Kurt's family had a history of depression and suicide. Kurt had already tried to commit suicide in Rome, a couple years earlier, while on tour. His friends and family all agreed that Kurt was very suicidal.

Several reporters have tried to prove Courtney killed Kurt, but they all concluded there was simply not enough evidence. And Tom Grant is a huge fucking liar. He started the whole conspiracy as a means to make money. People buy casebook kits off his websites and supposedly uses the money to fund his 'investigation'.

There's always going to be conspiracy theories out there, but I personally don't really care about fingerpointing. He died nearly 20 years ago, he was an enormous drug abuser, and no one really cared about him until his death. Drugs have different effects on people, and he might have had enough motor function to pull the trigger of a shotgun. However, with the birth of his daughter two years previously, he shouldn't have been using drugs in the first place. He should have been more focused on raising his daughter and seeking marriage counseling.

i do kinda share the same opinion as both of you but that was not tom grant that said that him and court and him were fighting it was the band mate and people did care about him before he died i mean i still listen to nirvana and i wish he was alive but yes he was a heavy drug user and very suicidal and i think that if she did not kill him he would of killed himself

this is his suicide note

To Boddah

Speaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand.

All the warnings from the punk rock 101 courses over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guity beyond words about these things.

For example when we're back stage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowds begins., it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I walk out on stage. I've tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do,God, believe me I do, but it's not enough). I appreciate the fact that I and we have affected and entertained a lot of people. It must be one of those narcissists who only appreciate things when they're gone. I'm too sensitive. I need to be slightly numb in order to regain the enthusiasms I once had as a child.

On our last 3 tours, I've had a much better appreciation for all the people I've known personally, and as fans of our music, but I still can't get over the frustration, the guilt and empathy I have for everyone. There's good in all of us and I think I simply love people too much, so much that it makes me feel too fucking sad. The sad little, sensitive, unappreciative, Pisces, Jesus man. Why don't you just enjoy it? I don't know!

I have a goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy and a daughter who reminds me too much of what i used to be, full of love and joy, kissing every person she meets because everyone is good and will do her no harm. And that terrifies me to the point to where I can barely function. I can't stand the thought of Frances becoming the miserable, self-destructive, death rocker that I've become.

I have it good, very good, and I'm grateful, but since the age of seven, I've become hateful towards all humans in general. Only because it seems so easy for people to get along that have empathy. Only because I love and feel sorry for people too much I guess.

Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I'm too much of an erratic, moody baby! I don't have the passion anymore, and so remember, it's better to burn out than to fade away.

Peace, love, empathy.
Kurt Cobain

Frances and Courtney, I'll be at your alter.
Please keep going Courtney, for Frances.
For her life, which will be so much happier without me.
I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU!

Exactly what I think. Either by suicide or overdose. With that combo background and a lack of any real evidence, just speculation - I'll go with the simplest conclusion that he offed himself.

I can't find anything about Dave Grohl saying Courtney was responsible for Kurt's death. Dave and Courtney have hated eachother for years, so I wouldn't be surprised if he did say something.

Look, I love Kurt Cobain and I'm a huge Nirvana fan, but Kurt killed himself. I can't believe that it's been 20 years and people are STILL saying he was murdered. He had been suicidal since he was a teenager, and suicide was often mentioned in Nirvana songs. I don't understand, do people think he was too good for suicide? He was an extremely depressed and angry person, the fact that he commited suicide is honestly not a surprise to me. It's sad, but it is what it is.
