Soon to be uncle

I am soon to be an uncle to my sisters son or daughter. The due date is June 25th and I have a couple questions. The baby will probably be coming to my house a lot since I am with my parents and they are going to be a major source of babysitting. What are my responsibilities as an uncle when the kid is young and then when he or she starts growing up? Am I going to have to be changing diapers when they are still young? Or is it not right for me to see the kid naked? Am I going to be teaching life lessons or is that best left up to my sister and brother in law? Any advice that you could give me would be a lot of help and I would appreciate it. Oh and I am 15 if that makes a difference on any advice given

You may be expected to change diapers sometimes, but it shouldn't be too often. You're only 15 so as for teaching life lessons I don't think that's the best idea. Just try to be a good example/role model for the kid.

I think maybe that your folks may give you tasks like feeding and diaper changing etc as practice for being a dad someday. I have one uncle and he teaches me stuff and shows me stuff hare and there the same as other grown ups like my grandparents and school teachers.

don't worry you will only have to change the diapers where necessary like when no one is around and there is nothing wrong seeing the baby naked because at a point,maybe you will be told to help bathe the baby,i have bathed a number of my cousins and its not your job to teach the baby,you just have to play with him or her and maybe teach him or her how to pronounce certain words

I have 2 nephews, 8 months and 3 years old. They and my brother and sister in law have been living with us for a few years now. Most of the time its just babysitting for a little bit and maybe getting them to sleep. Its great to see them grow up and such fun to be around their bubbly personality, babysitting money is good too xD lol

Well, I have 2 nieces, and I don't have to do anything I'm uncomfortable with like diapers, but they ask me to watch and play with them, and you should be open to them. Uncles should be the fun one in the family. You don't need to be a parent, but as they get older be there to support them.
