Okay so I should probably start out by telling some of the background of the situation... My dad is always out of town literally all week every week except saturday and sunday so I'm use to wiping my car in and out of the garage pretty fast... well tonight I was in the garage putting shine stuff on the tires when i decide to go for a little drive, i opened the garage put the car in reverse and before the backup camera even came on i heard a horrible scraping noise... when i turned around i about had a heart attack! the entire bumper on my dads car had popped off!! so quickly i shut off my car and ran inside only to find my dad asleep.. so being the sly teenager that i am I popped the bumper back on and started trying to fix the black gouges out of the plastic... i managed to make it look decent but had a new problem.. the area i fixed was very clean (it had snowed so the salt and dirt from the road was all over the car) so i took a dust pan and sprinkled some dirt onto the clean area... ANYWAYS I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do... literally no damage was done to my car (which is also new lol) but his car has 2 noticeable black marks where clips poked throughout the plastic.. I know "honesty is the best policy" but i don't want to be grounded from my car and macbook from a month ( which is what usually happens) ... the damage to his car is what i would call minuscule so i don't think its worth the trouble from telling him.. i mean if he asks about it and doesn't seem upset ill fess up but..... I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO

Well depending on the damage can you fix it? If not do you have the money to take it to a dealer?

well idk what they would do... like its not bad enough to have the whole bumper replaced but replacing the bumper would be the only way to fix it... plus its a bmw so the dealership is like 30 minutes from my house...

Ahh cool we got a new BMW as well. Anyway try get some touch up paint from the dealer if there are tons of scratches. That's probably the best you can do by yourself.

Ouch...

Do you have any auto body places around? If the bumper isn't completely broken, just needs some cosmetics done, they'd probably be able to do it for a cheaper price if you're concerned that the dealership will be pricey and is far away.

If you could get that done without your dad knowing, that'd probably be your best bet if you didn't want to tell him...

Best to do a little research before attempting anything yourself... good luck.

You could try that but honestly I would leave it. Touch it up with the paint, tell your dad what happened and have the dents be done by a professional. Believe me I've made dents a heck of a lot worse then what they were in the beggining.
