this might be a stupid question but one I have always wondered and thought I would love to get your thoughts on it..

if youre gay or bisexual, naturally you would get turned on by a penis (I am bi so this confuses me) why are you not turned on by your own penis. like I can look at it and it doesn't bother me but when you look at another boys it is completely different and I am instantly turned on... but they are exactly the same thing.. as I said might be a stupid question but have always wondered.

I'm Bi too, for me I think it's because with another guy's penis, the new stimulus can arouse you and then also there is the imagination stage in which you imagine him with you, which can turn you on, it's normal

Well I'm guessing that because u'll start fantasizing about what you can do with the other person and this causes you to be excited. When u see your own dick that stimulus is not there, like when you touch your own dick and when someone else touches your dick

this is actually a very interesting question and one i'm not sure i know the answer to. to everyone saying "well it's because it's another person" that's not really answering the question. we already know it's another person, but the question is why does another person's body organs stimulate gay/bi people more than their own body organs? i'm bi myself. and i'm not sure of the answer.

what i do know is that this seems like it could definitely help the argument that being gay or bi is completely natural. because being attracted to one's self would definitely not be natural, yet our bodies and minds are programmed to be attracted to the same sex without being attracted to ourselves.

This is an interesting question.

There are definitely ways in which familiarity leads to less arousal.

It has been observed that people are more aroused by people outside their family compared to their opposite sex siblings and further research has shown that this happens when you spend a particular part of childhood with that sibling. Siblings that have grown up apart, for example by being adopted, may well fancy each other.

It could just be anticipation too. You see yourself naked all the time. If you only time you see someone else naked is in preparation for doing something sexual that would make it more arousing. For nudists seeing someone else naked ceases to be the cue for getting aroused as it is the norm.
