Getting Birth Control

I'm sexually active with my boyfriend, and we always use condoms for protection, but I want to get extra protection, just to be safer. I'm going to the doctor on Thursday, and I want to talk to my doctor about getting contraception, but I'm not sure how to start the conversation (I've got social anxiety). Does anyone have any advice on how to bring this up with my pediatrician?

If you're going for an annual, your doctor should bring it up. She'll ask you if you're dating, if you're sexually active, and if you know about protection. You can ask her about birth control then. This is what my doctor does.
