View Full Version : Shaving?

So I don't even bother shaving at all because my mum doesn't want me to and it (apparently?) grows back thicker and I'm really lazy.
Since I'm not allowed to anyway, I just feel so self-conscious of myself when I'm at school or with friends to the point that I just use tweezers on my underarms and that's it.
I'm just wondering if anyone here doesn't shave and why and if it should kinda be okay for me to shave/wax/whatever (I'm 14).

I started shaving when I was about 13, so I don't see why you shouldn't be shaving. The hair doesn't grow back thicker.

I started shaving my armpits when I was 12 because it started to grow in then, and even though it was super light I hated it, and I do lots of swimming so bathing suits all the time + hairy armpits = ewwww (imo). I started doing my legs a year or so later.

It doesn't grow it darker, it only appears that way because the end of your hair is finer then it is at the roots, so when you cut the hairs with a razor the ends just appear thicker when it grows back out. Also, your hair will grow thicker naturally, regardless of wether or not you shave your hair.

It's completely normal for girls to shave/wax their armpits, especially at 14. I would find using a pair of tweezers long and more painful them simply shaving, and why would you want to spend all of that extra time plucking your armpits? Try talking to your mom again about possibly shaving, it's much easier.

I started shaving my legs when I was 9/10 (very younge I know) because I had naturally darks long hairs and started shaving my armpits at 12. It really depends when u feel like shaving and how bad u need to. Just tell your mum u want to. 14 is definitely ok to shave !!

My thoughts exactly. Would she really check if you shaved or not? I think you should do what you fell best for YOUR body. And about being lazy.. It's not the biggest job to shave. Do it as a part of your shower. And once you are shaved and feel the difference you might be happy to keep it this way and gladly do the job of shaving

You would be surprised, but I understand what you're saying. I think I might just do it anyway. Thanks everyone~ c:

It's a personal choice whether or not you want to shave. I started shaving when I was about twelve. I only shaved up to my knees though. I only started shaving up to my thighs when I was 16. I started shaving pubes at 14ish. And my armpits jsut recently. Don't shave them unless you have to!

In my opinion it's really nobody's business what you do down there. I usually just trim it. I shaved it all off at first, but it's just too itchy when it grows back. :/

I shave it all. It looks and feel better. I am always nude at home and it is more comfortable like that.

I can understand why you are kinda scared coz your mum has told you not too but....

1 - Have you discussed it with her and asked her why she doesn't want you to shave?
2 - You have to explain to her in a respectful way that it's your own body and its not like having a tattoo or body piercings or anything like that.
3 - Tell her that its more hygienic if you do it.
4 - How will she know if you do it anyway, you already remove the hair from your arms and legs so what's the difference?

Hope this helps.

Use Nair if you don't want the stubble! I only have to nair once every two weeks, whereas girls who shaved early and frequently have to shave once a day because of the prickles.
