if it starts to look a little untidy, then Id shave it off, and it wont trouble you again for a few weeks. Then, as the months roll by, youll have to start doing it again, and again, and again and so on and so forth.
In short, Id shave it.

Personally I'd shave it because I hate facial hair but its your face do what you think makes it looks better

sure, go ahead and shave it. thats what i would do anyway, because little random hairs like that get on my nerves, but thats just me.

i waited until my sideburns were dead obvious and then she bought a shaver which i conveniently "found", so it wasnt too bad.
If youre at the barbers, get him to just shave your sideburns (like he does the back of one's neck) and HOPEFULLY your mum should take the hint....other than that, youre just going to have to ask her that you might need to start shaving "mom, im starting to look a little scruffy, could I just have this hair shaved?"

steal your mom's or dad's razors if you get nervous about asking

if you do, make sure you wash it after (assuming its a wet razor). Your hairs will get caught between the blade and it will be fairly obvious.
I would recommend NOT wet shaving without sorta being told how to. Its not that difficuly or anything, just that youre more prone to cutting yourself if youre doing it for the first time.
