Why do so many straight people make this assumption ? Yes, I am gay. NO, i dont want to be a girl.... Im not talkiing about stupid homofobic jokes here... I mean when people who are friends with me assume that i will always lean to the more "girly" side of things. I love being a guy. I love my body, I love the fact that I have to let girls in the door before me. Just because I like guys doesnt make me any more female than a guy who's straight. Anyone else ever get annoyed by this? Any lesbians ever feel they get stereotyped as being butch tomboys? JW

I get very annoyed by these stereotypes too, even if they don't necessarily affect me personally. Being attracted to men is not emasculating and I don't understand why that's even an assumption in the first place. Similarly, being attracted to women is not somehow defeminizing. I came across this (http://www.buzzfeed.com/skarlan/what-do-straight-people-think-lesbians-look-like) article a while ago and found it somewhat disappointing, actually, that people have this rigid idea of what certain kinds of people must look and/or act like.

I hate to offend or anything, but your parent's friends are Morons. Just when you start to see the rainbow in the distance, you look right down at the mucky puddle your standing in....

Hm, well I think there's something sexist about people thinking like that as well...
Though I've never really had that problem with my friends. Though I've known most my friends my whole life so, You know.

That's it, most people think gay guys are girly while in fact, most gays aren't and you can't even tell they are.
