To be honest.... I'm not even sure. I watch it, and I dont even know. I think "captivating" is the word I would use to describe it ..... I just love it because.....i just do....

I have only seen the first few TV episodes and have not read any of the books. My dad is reading the books and has a box set of the first 2 series (the latest book a present from me and the box set from someone else). With my not having seen enough to have a good opinion of it, I think it brings a lot of modern problems/issues/themes into a fantasy world, with a big story being created out of it.

I'm not too into the TV series, but the books are amazing. Give them a shot and see if that changes your mind

I had high hopes for it when I borrowed the Blu-Ray edition from a friend, but, meh:
I mean, you get a bit excited and sucked in actually when you watch it, but only a bit, and other than that, I never feel like "Oh it's been long and I missed watching Game of Thrones, I should watch it now!"
P.S.: By the way, I didn't even finish season 1

I really don't see the hype about it. I watched the Red Wedding scene just to see what it was like and there was very little special about it (and I know people are gonna say "Well if you had watched the whole show you'd see what's great about it").

I have not seen it yet. It's on my to do list. Maybe reading the books too. The books of whatever are always better then the movies or tv version- even if those are really good.

It's great at capturing your attention and unlike other mainstream TV programs (breaking bad etc) it actually has a pretty brutal way of showing how everyone can and will die. The writers do not care if a character is popular or not they will happily kill them off which I think is depressing but also realistic.
It's also a great political program because it shows just how power is divided within society and that it's not held by the head of State. It just grabs hold of you

Game of Thrones is pretty awesome, it's one of my favorite shows actually. It starts off slow so that might be why so many people here don't like it. Give it a few hours, finish the first season. All the stories come together in the last few episodes and it's really epic.
I've also read the books, and they're obviously better than the show. Since I read them, I've gotten really picky. They can't exactly fit a story told on an 800 page book into one season of ten episodes, so they've cut and changed up a lot of the story. Regardless though, the show is really great because of its unpredictability and suspense cause not a single character is safe.
Really looking forward to Season 4, it's gonna be awesome.

The plot is pretty awesome, the casting is great, and it doesn't follow the plot structure of any other show I know of. I know that any character could be killed off at any point in the show, and I like that.
