Hey guys, I was wondering if there is a way I can disable the display of my laptop since the screen is cracked and I have to use an external monitor
It's an HP 2000 with 4gigs of ram and runs windows 8.
Right now i'm using a TV as my monitor (1080p FTW) and with trying to upgrade to 8.1 I cant do anything because the VGA doesn't output anything during the upgrade process after I restart.

The issue is that the vga is not outputting during an upgrade?
If that's not the case, you could always set your laptop to stay on (rather than sleep) when you shut the lid and then simply mirror the display.

There is a combination of buttons you can press so it only displays on one monitor or the other. I cant remember it off the top of my head. It works similarly to alt+tab

My brother has a Windows 8 laptop so I can mess with it in the morning, but you should be able to disable the laptop display. If the disabling does not carry over into the update process... I don't know what to say.
I just realized you said BIOS. If you can't see it. It's probably not there. Laptop BIOSs are usually very limited as it is. Best of luck.

Not sure you can do much - try your Fn.F5 combination but I think that's software based so the POST may not respond to it.

I cannot access the bios so make my external monitor my default display, I found out I can change the bios iwthin windows 8 but that doesnt seem to work.
