Hey guys,

In the Springtime I'll be starting to do open water swimming/wild swimming in a nearby river. I have all the kit (Wetsuit, swim cap, goggles etc) and am probably going to aim for swimming around 2 miles before getting out. I'm a competent swimmer and have tested the water before.

I'm just here to ask if anyone else enjoys open water swimming or wild swimming?

I don't get the chance to do it often but I love swimming in lakes. It's much more relaxing than crowded indoor public pools.

I swim in lakes and rivers with my friends. Just becareful of slippery rocks. My best friend fell and knocked herself out on a rock.

I swim a lot, especially in the summer. I used to be part of a team but quit because I was constantly being pressure to go to a higher level and I didn't want to travel to compete in swimming. Long story short, I stopped going to swimming pools.

So now, I swim for me and enjoy it a lot more, and I do almost all of my swimming in lakes when the weather is nice. There are a couple where I live, and my aunt lives on a lake that isn't used for commercial swimming or boating, so I usually go there because I love the privacy. I only do it when the weather is nice, as I said, so I don't use a wetsuit or a cap or anything, just a bathing suit.

I am a strong swimmer and since I just enjoy it, I usually swim around the lake once a day which takes me about an hour and a half, but if I don't feel like it, I'll swim across and back.

As a surfer, Wild Swimming is part of the package :) As Dory says "Just keep swimming"

I have three ponds and a creek. How could I not like swimming. Never did it for a team though.
