I am a fairly regualar self harmer.
However, lately its been hard to get away with... my mum always checks for any new cuts, even scratches. Also its summer, and its hard to cover up in this hot weather...(and if i did cover up, poeple would be suspicious of the girl wandering around in long pants and a jacket)
Anyway heres what i have found to help me get through the rought times. I thought id share it incase anyone finds it useful.
Solitaire!!
The impulse and need to self harm dies away after a while, all u have to do is wait it out. I have found that a simple activity that occupies ur mind, isnt too difficult but dosnt take up too much concentration is something that u can do to help the time pass. For me solitaire, mainly on the computer (i am lucky enough to also have it on my mobile phone also- for the times away from home) has been a life saver.
Also theres tetris, snake etc.
It may sound a bit dicky but it works for me MOST of the time. So try it, it could work for u too.
best wishes
