hey guys,
what do you guys think about Lorde? here in NZ she is pretty big and I think her songs are great (except royals which is obviously waay overplayed!). my favourites are tennis court and buzzcut season! i would suggest listening to her pure heroine album as well, which is great! i think its really great an NZ musician has finally made it big and she definetly deserves it!

I've heard she's a big time drug addict, which is pretty crazy because I thought she was like 16. I don't really have much of an opinion on her other than that though tbh

Lesser of evils, still another lacklustre pop artist but I support her message.

I like her song but I could see her doing drugs. But Idk her personally so I can't judge

I love her, both her music and as a person.

Where does that impression come from? I'm pretty sure she doesn't. And I've just found an interview in which she says, "One of the earliest songs I [did] was about a girl in my year that took to drugs and went off the rails – it was kind of like a diss track. I wasn’t happy that she was letting down our year group in that way, she gave us a bad name."
That doesn't sound like she'd have any desire to do drugs at all, but maybe that's just me.

I have heard/seen the videos from her second and third song off her album. They are quite forgettable (and boring even), and don't have a unique sound or great hook like Royals does. As much as it's been overplayed, I can still admit that it has that.
Unless she has an equally impactful song off her second album, she's probably just going to be a one-hit wonder.

I think she's pretty great. Her voice is so strong for her to be only sixteen.

I like her music, but I don't really follow her or know much about her...
But being 17, I kind of wonder where she gets her songs and lyrics... are they all based on what she's experienced?

I've only listened to her big hit and that's it. Not too big on pop anyways.

I don't ever listen to modern pop, but I heard that one song (Royals) the other day and somehow fell in love with it. I'll probably buy one of her albums when I get some money saved up, from what I've read she seems like an interesting person.

She is now 17. And I've looked up information on the whole "she's on drugs" and it doesn't seem like she would be the type to do any. In fact, one song she did (can't remember which one) was written about a girl in her class who did drugs and made her whole class embarrassed. However, knowing the road many young pop stars go down, she might have gotten into them. Anyway, that doesn't affect how I view her. If she wants to do them, fine. She just has to acknowledge the dangers of doing so and how this might affect the people that look up to her.
I like Lorde. I think she has a fantastic voice and has a great message with her songs.

I love Pure Heroine. And to be honest royals is good but it's not even her best. I'm pretty sure she's more then a one hit wonder.
Ooh and she doesn't do drugs, and she's not a pop singer omg.

I was actually surprised when I heard Royals for the first time. I actually really like her music, way more than I thought I would. Some of my favorites are Team, Glory And Gore, Love Club, Million Dollar Bills, and Ribs.

I'm a complete metal head and rock lover but she has to be the only person outside of rock I can stand, she's my age which is cool and is weird which is good to see a weird famous person

I think it's another one-hit wonder. Royals is good, but she's way too young and the music doesn't have that passionate feeling to it

I like the songs I've heard from her (basically all of the current singles plus "Glory and Gore"), although I do kind of wish that "Team" wasn't so similar in message to "Royals".
Hey, it got her out of the technical definition of a one-hit-wonder in a lot of places, so there's that. :P

I see that lots of people seem to like Lorde. What are some of the reasons you do? Why do you enjoy listening to her music so much? I'll be honest, I listened to Royals, and all I heard was about four minutes' worth of, "I wanna be rich, spoiled, and pampered."

It isn't my usual kind of music, but I like Pure Heroine - 400 Lux is my favourite. I think what's really interesting is it was produced by Joel Little from Goodnight Nurse, but it's a completely different sound.

Her music isn't bad but it's nothing I really like, either...it doesn't touch me.
