So yesterday my car got rear-ended by someone who was illegally texting whilst driving.

List of things they fucked:

Bent axel
Scrape up side
Mangled rear quarter panel
Warped boot-lid
Damaged Brakes
Bent suspension
Bent chassis
Broke bumper

And that's all I know about so far. Probably going to get written off. (I only just put 4 brand new tyres on it >.>)

Has anyone been in any accidents before?

The first one I was in was when my boyfriend was driving. It was late at night coming back from California and a deer jumped out. Couldn't see it and next to no time to react, ended up hitting it at 70mph and totalled his Mini.
I rolled my first car about 3 months after I got my license. Was going around a turn and somebody had taken it too fast in the opposite direction and was halfway in my lane. His truck slammed right into the drivers side of my Touareg which threw it off the road and rolled it into a field.

I must say, it is scarier when you can see it coming rather than when you can't. When we hit the deer there was no warning at all, it just happened. My wreck I could see coming but due to a 2 foot drop on the right shoulder I knew if I tried to avoid it I'd flip the car anyway, that was a scary situation.

I've been in two accidents in my life. The first was with my dad about 4 years ago. We were waiting to turn into our driveway (we lived on a highway), when a lady who was texting and driving hit us doing 60 MPH (it was bad, smashed the whole rear of our van, pushed us about 20 feet forward, broke the seats, wasnt fun to say the least)

And the second one was about 2 months ago I was hit by a car who ran a red light, car ended up getting totaled because the whole front end was smashed up

Any situation when a car gets wrecked is a horrible situation. I hope everyone was okay for the both of you.

Sorry to see that happened to your car! I hope you can get everything sorted out and fixed with it as soon as possible.

I've only been in one car accident, and it was really scary. Another car wasn't involved though. It was 4.5 years ago, and I was with one of my older cousins. We were driving down a twisty country road close to my grandparents house and one of the tires blew out, and we spun out of control and ended up tipping off the side of the road and flipping sideways. The side of the road we fell off of wasn't that steep or anything, but we could have just as easily fallen off the other side down a steep slope into a river. It's those what-ifs that are the scariest, going through all the things that could have happened in your head. We were both fine and someone my parents knew drove by a couple minutes later and helped us out and drove us home, and the car was insured so everything turned out alright.

I couldn't sleep for days though, it was one of the scariest things that's ever happened to me. My dad's been in a few accidents similar to that, and it's scary when I think that something could have happened to him.

Found out to day that it is written off beyond repair because you can't repair a car that has a bent chassis.

But the upside, the insurance company is giving me $3700 which is $400 more than what I paid for it, so I guess it all works it's way out in the end.

Yeah my dad and me got rear ended while in my mom's old
car when I was nine - by a huge SUV. My dad was slowing down
for a right turn when he smashed into us. The worst part it he hit
twice because the air bag was in his face. The guy was pretty honest
though - he said it happened cause he was reaching for a cigarette
he dropped. But we were not really hurt and the insurance paid a
lot more for the car then it would have sold for - plus a lot extra for
pain and suffering. I think it makes a difference when a kid is in the car.

Sorry about the Accord, man. GREAT cars. That being said, repair shouldn't be too hard. I mean it is their fault so they are responsible, right?

I haven't even been in a car crash, but my mom was driving her Mazda CX-7 and got rear ended by a Nissan Xterra doing about 35. She had about the same amount of damage as you. Again, I'm sorry about what happened.

Yeah, I loved it. It was perfect!!
It is their fault and the insurance company is giving me money for the car.
The quote for the repairs came back at $6000 and their legally not allowed to let it back on the road if it's had a bent chassis. So it's basically only good for parts.

Ive been in a couple wrecks, but every time I was in old steel pickup trucks, and they just sorta plow through everything, so I was fine.

Ouch!

At least you're okay, right?
Too bad for the car, though...
If the tires are new, you could probably get some money back on them if you listed them on some local classified adds or craigslist...

Yeah, I was fine. I was in bed at the time it happened as it was parked on the street.

It's kinda sad to see her go, but I'm getting a nice sum for it to replace it.

I couldn't take the tyres off of it because they go with the car and the pay out would be a lot less if it didn't have any tyres or wheels.

Honda Accords are great cars and I would recommend them to anyone!

I see...

I'm saving my pennies for a Civic, need something with the most MPG and reliability that I can get for the price. Hopefully you can pick up a nice replacement car.

That's what Craigslist is for! Also ask your insurance what junkyard it is going to! You could run down there and grab your wheels/tires back if they haven't sold yet for a cheap price. Most places around here charge $15 a tire. Cheap way to get yours back! And then if your new car doesn't need them/has a different size, you can get more than your money back on craigslist!

The insurance company is auctioning the whole car off. I'd have to buy the whole thing.

Now that blows. Around here they just send them to the nearest junk yard. As long as you find out where it is you can basically follow the towtruck there and pull whatever you want back for cheap!

Where I am from, you can fined $300-$400 and lose 4-5 demerit points off of your licence. It is a good law.

I've never really been in an accident, unless if you count running, not hitting, but running over the neck of a deer, it had just been hit by a mini charter bus thingamajig. Although I've seen some pretty nasty wrecks. Once, I was leaving Baltimore, and the car to the right was slammed into by another car going about 80 mph, guy was drunk, debris went everywhere!! The drunk guy ended up having to be medivaced to shock trauma. As it was, my dad needed to get new tires because glass shards went into two of them. Other than that, nothing else.

Well I was in my 94 K5 I was pulling out of the gas station and it was icy out and my truck slid right out into the main highway, and I was T-Boned by a dodge dakota. It only pushed my drivers fender in and I probably need a new door the dakota on the other hand was totaled by the looks of it. At least nobody was hurt. I'm glad I drive a big truck

Not sure if it counts, but my step-dad got into an accident with me in the passenger seat when I was four. It was raining heavy and he wound up rear-ending a car parked on the side of the road. He was found to be at-fault (he was), our truck was completely totaled and I was left with a nasty knot on the top of my head from hitting the dashboard. The front end of the truck was completely unrecognizable.

Man, that's bad. =\ At least you yourself are okay though!

I've thankfully never been in any serious accidents (i wouldn't even consider what I'm about to share a true accident), but one time my dad backed our old Windstar into a concrete column. Completely shattered the back window and I believe did some damage to the lift gate. Cost us like $3000USD to repair.
