Do you agree with bringing him back? Why or why not?

Duck Dynasty Brought Back (http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/ae-reverses-decision-duck-dynasty-patriarch-21352818)
Wow, it's just sad A&E, who was standing up for equality, or looked like it, would cater to inequality just for profit. I no longer trust any TV networks, especially A&E after this. How dare they claim to be for equality and yet support a show that propagates homophobic hate. Sad. Just a publicity stunt to make the LGBT community look like the villains and victimize the oppressors.
This isn't over.

They are profit seeking Hollywood liberals...what did you expect?
So you still think A & E should silence this mand because you were offended by his remarks? The viewership obviously wasn't, and so they threatened a boycott if A & E brought him back. What he said is a view shared by many Americans, and it'd be unfair to silence him because of it. He thinks homosexuality ie a sin...so do a lot of other people. Get over it.
If your really that mad about this, boycott them. That's the beauty of the free market :)

Although I would have loved to protest the show to cancellation and boycott A&E because they went back on a decision, protesting against a show and network that supports homophobia is a waste of my time and energy. My interest in achieving equality will remain in legal courts and political offices, where protests will be on the streets in front of city halls and court houses. That's where the true fight for equality is. Not some stupid TV network with ignorant rednecks.

I am. I am most certainly for equality and acceptance. As for me accepting others opinions, I accept their opinion and right to be ignorant assholes who are against the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for a minority.
Very good. Big victory for free speech.
According to a post in a similar thread, you claim this is a big victory for free speech. Are you fuckin serious? You value the free speech of ignorant bigoted homophobes over the equal human rights of an oppressed minority? Wow. And might I just say it's not just about LGBT rights, but it is about HUMAN rights. People can say whatever they want, but there will always be consequence. Phil Robertson has yet to suffer the consequence of his hate speech.

Guys, try to be mature about this. No personal attacks, remember? Only makes us looks more like an ass.
Anyways, although I'm not happy about his remarks, I honestly don't care either way. It's a show about a hardcore, old-school christian family who also live in Louisiana. What else should you expect? Not saying I like it, but we've got to realize that not everyone is on the same boat as us. Now, hopefully that will change, but we've got to realize that we've got to take baby steps, and give it time, or else it'll end in a FUBAR situation.

I value the free speech of a person. I never said over the rights of an "oppressed minority." Its HIS HUMAN RIGHT to say his beliefs just like its your right to say hateful stuff about a person who is simply stating what he believes. Can i ask why you car so much? If you honestly love some one why do you care what somebody else thinks? You know and the person you love are happy with eachother so why worry when someone disapproves?

Mods, excuse me if you count this towards a double post.
It may do with the fact that his love is illegal in most parts of the world, including majority of the United States. Honestly, wouldn't you be just a tad pissed off if you weren't allowed to legally be married to the person who you love with all your heart, not be allowed to visit them in the hospital, or even be included on the same insurance? Or how about if every time you walked out with your love, that people would look down upon you with disgust, refuse to service you, or even threaten you, just because you love the "wrong" gender. It is complete and utter bullshit.

Bull. I guarantee you would say different if you'd be put in their shoes. Honestly, if it was no big deal, as you are implying by saying you wouldn't need the ability to live your life as the rest as the world does, do you think there'd even be a debate over this? Do you think there'd be people fighting for the right just to live their life to the fullest with their partner? Sir, if that's how you are imagining things, I believe you are completely mistaken. It's people like you, that think it's "no big deal" that homosexual couples aren't allowed the same basic principles as the rest of us citizens here in the United States, that are the reason our nation can't move forward and get our heads out of our asses and do the homosexual community a favor by at least giving them same same ability to be a married couple. Honestly, can you give me one reason, that does not mention some old damn book, why homosexual couples should not be allowed the same rights as a heterosexual couple?

He was voicing his perfectly reasonable opinion, and A & E kicked him off for it. Now they've had to reverse it because it was a stupid decision That's the bottom line.
You think this should become a government issue? Because taht's kind of what you are saying, saying we should take this into government offices and town halls. Do you really want to make what he said illegal?
I don't know where you live, but in America we have a Constitution. It's one of the most ingenius things ever written. And perhaps the most important clasue within that document is the First Amendment, which guarentees freedom of speech and the freedom to believe what you want. If government action was taken against this man, it would be an obvious and direct violation of it.

Yeah, this thread has pretty much run it's course. Seeing how Phil is back in and what not. In the end, who fucking cares what another person says? It's an opinion. You don't like it, but clearly no one else gives a shit about what you think. He was asked for his opinion. No one else was. But look at the bright side: several states made some new laws/struck down old laws to go in favor of same sex marriage. So that's good. Woo.
The real tragedy is that everyone forgot it was Christmas. Oh well. There's always next year.

As far as gay marriage goes i honestly couldnt care less. It could swing either way and i wouldnt care. It doesnt affect me. My whole point in this thread is that everyone is jumping on phil and attacking him for his "hate speech." They're in here preeching about acceptance and equality but as soon as someone simply states an opinion that they dont agree with they are lesser people.

I'm going to address both posts here. @Thactcountrykid, GSP hit it right on the nail. And I completely agree. It's complete bullshit that we are living in a 21st century world yet a small minority don't have the rights to same love. In the United States same sex equality is illegal in 32 states (64%). Home of the free indeed. Meanwhile, homosexuality is punishable by death in various countries around the globe. It's almost 2014 and this is still going on. To me, it seems we're still living in the dark ages.
If i truly love them then i wouldnt care because i'd be happy with them. You dont need marraige or others approval to show love.

Honestly, can you give me one reason, that does not mention some old damn book, why homosexual couples should not be allowed the same rights as a heterosexual couple?
First and foremost, that is complete ignorant bullshit to say that I don't need marriage to be happy. I guess heterosexual couples don't need marriage to be happy. I forget where but an openly gay judge did just that and declared heterosexual marriage illegal in her district until homosexual marriage did become legal in the US. While a little extreme, I completely agree with her actions. If LGBT can't have equal rights, then neither can heterosexuals. I shouldn't be treated differently because I love someone with a wee wee and have a wee wee myself or for the female who can't marry each other. It's complete bullshit.
He was voicing his perfectly reasonable opinion, and A & E kicked him off for it. Now they've had to reverse it because it was a stupid decision That's the bottom line.

Yes, he was voicing his opinions, but that doesn't mean he can escape the consequences of his ignorance and anti-gay hate speech. I'm not suggesting the government take action against that bigot. I'm saying Duck Dienasty isn't the battlefield for LGBT equality. The courthouses and city halls are.
As far as gay marriage goes i honestly couldnt care less. It could swing either way and i wouldnt care. It doesnt affect me. My whole point in this thread is that everyone is jumping on phil and attacking him for his "hate speech." As for this lets look at George S. Patton's previous post.
And let's look at this:
“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse, and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.” - Desmond Tutu
Now, this pretty much means that while people who "don't care" are watching a minority being oppressed and denied their rights to equality. So while you sit and don't care, the mouse is being squished by the elephant. In my perfectly just opinion, there shouldn't be a neutral ground regarding LGBT equality. You're either for it or against it. And if you choose against be prepared to face the consequences. Though a little extreme, it needs to be done because equality needs to be established. Why are we living in a world of modern age and yet LGBT still does not have equality?

I am so glad A&E reveresed their actions and that Phil, his family, and fans fought to defend Phil's words. He had a right to say what he said and was asked in the first place.

I value the free speech of a person. I never said over the rights of an "oppressed minority." Its HIS HUMAN RIGHT to say his beliefs just like its your right to say hateful stuff about a person who is simply stating what he believes.
Why do people still think this controversy has anything to do with free speech?
Can i ask why you car so much? If you honestly love some one why do you care what somebody else thinks? You know and the person you love are happy with eachother so why worry when someone disapproves?
They care so much because they want equal rights. You realize that marriage has nothing to do with love right? Absolutely zip. You can get married to someone you hate. Marriage is the common name for a contract granting two people financial benefits and rights over one another.
He was voicing his perfectly reasonable opinion, and A & E kicked him off for it.
He was voicing his opinion. No completely sane person would call it a reasonable one.
You think this should become a government issue? Because taht's kind of what you are saying, saying we should take this into government offices and town halls. Do you really want to make what he said illegal?

The issue he was talking about IS a government issue, mainly the current violation of the 14th amendment that is the government mostly prohibiting people of his orientation to marry. If you read his post you'd know that.
I am so glad A&E reveresed their actions and that Phil, his family, and fans fought to defend Phil's words. He had a right to say what he said and was asked in the first place.
As has been stated, he had the right to say what he said and A&E has the right to fire him for it. BOTH are examples of free speech.
