The US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby said on Tuesday that, at this moment, he does not expect Serbia to join NATO, adding that this is not going to happen in the nearer future.
We expect Serbia to contribute to global peace and join peacekeeping missions, as it has already done in Mali, Djibouti and Lebanon, Ambassador Kirby said in Kraljevo, where he was visiting the Faculty of Mechanical and Civil Engineering.
The US expects Serbia to proceed towards its EU accession in order to be able to contribute to peacekeeping missions worldwide alongside EU and UN member states, Kirby said.
