Having one a day won't last you very long, it will turn into 2/3, which will turn into more. If you don't want to get addicted to cigarettes then simply don't smoke them, otherwise it's more than likely going to happen.

well both of you are right, im thinking on not doing it but at the same time kinda am thinking. see i dont have the money to buy them, but my friend buys them but he will let me have one a day or just a few a week. which is kinda limiting it right? though i might quit it and not ruin my body though.

What are you going to do if you find yourself craving more and more of them? 1 hardly ever stays just one. If I were you, I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. Smoking is never something I would recommend.

This is exactly what will happen.
I had super easy access to cigarettes and I'd buy a pack with the intention of "only smoking one a day". It starts okay, you know, it's just one, no big deal. Next thing you know, you go home and realize you've smoked half a pack. I wasn't addicted, but I was sure as hell on the road to being addicted. Cigarettes are never a good idea.

I'm glad that you came to that conclusion. Also, cigarettes are expensive and you'd probably be much better off saving your money for something else then funding a smoking habit, even if a friend supplies them.

Thats also true, like I rather spend my money on band shirts and music instead of cigarettes. And plus the consequences if my parents find out will be bad.

Enjoy life cigarette free, you'll be happy you did it later.

To be fair, I know quite a lot of people that can successfully pull off the social smoker.

Really good idea to just stop bro. Is such a small amount of pleasure really worth decades of regret and bad health and the very decent possibility of a drawn out, antagonistic death? I dont think so...im dealing with trying to get off a drug at the moment so talk to me if you need help man

I used to never smoke cigarettes. Then one day a friend of mine who smoked offered me one. I smoked it and kinda liked it, and figured if i just stuck to a couple a day i would be fine. But then u say one more wont hurt and after that u say it again until your a full blown smoker like me. It's funny because i actually had to make myself smoke them so i made myself addicted even tho i didn't really like them that much. Stay away from cigarettes; if you're going to smoke anything, it might as well be weed. At least weed wont kill you.

I absolutely don't think you should start smoking. You've done well thus far by not doing it, and its okay that you tried it..but leave it there. It's a disgusting habit and I've heard its really hard to stop. Not to mention the risks of smoking.. cancer, lung infections etc.

Nicotine might be the most underhanded drug ever. It creeps on you. I pulled off the social smoker routine for a few months, then I got tired of bumming smokes from everyone so I bought a pack, kept it down...faster than I could notice the pack was gone.
Now I have to fund my one pack every 3 days addiction. I'm so thankful I have a good salary.
Do what you want, OP. Nicotine is not without benefits. It's a powerful, legal and convenient anti-anxiety compound for one. It certainly looks less sneaky than smuggling lorazepam around. Lots of people say the feeling of smoke in their lungs make them feel alive and invigorated, and sucking on stuff all day long is nice as far as fixations go. But it does have huge drawbacks that to 95% of people make it not worth it. It's actually fairly easy to stop if you know the trick, but tarring up your lungs with hundreds of carcinogens isn't worth it. If you do want to keep the habit, only smoke organic, 100% natural tobacco, but that kind of cigarette is hard to come by unless you have a specialty shop near you and they are expensive.
I do not have an addictive personality (I never feel any psychological addiction) but I do have a compulsive one which is what makes it kinda hard to stop, and nicotine is physically addictive. No willpower FTL. But I am waiting for my "trick" in the mail that makes quitting child's play.

PLEASE DON'T.
I'm not gonna tell you about the health risks, that's stupid and everyone knows it.
I'm going to tell you how miserable my life has been since I started smoking a year ago.
I started smoking 2 a day, then 4 a day, then 5 a day. On April, I was already trying to quit. I couldn't quit. I was 2 days quit, then smoke again, then 2 days quit... It was hell.
On October 11th, on my 71th quit attempt, I finally broke free from this shitty addiction.
BELIEVE ME IT'S NOT WORTH ANYTHING.
Cigarettes don't taste good. They cost tons of money. They're horrible for your health. They make you smell bad...
And then there's addiction. I don't want to be controlled by a stupid chemical named nicotine.
I'm not going to advocate other illegal drugs, but I'd much rather smoke marijuana than cigarettes (of course I'd rather smoke none :) )

That's awesome. You just extended your life and improved the quality of it and saved thousands of dollars. For example, if you ended up smoking "just" two packs a week at $4 a pack, that's $416 per year. If you ended up smoking an average of half a pack a day for the next 50 years, $36,400.
Anyway, I've never smoked, but I know it's a hard thing to quit, so congrats.
I live around Atlanta and it's rare to see a kid smoking cigarettes because no one wants to be around the stink of it. For every two big parties I go to or after a football game for example, there might be one kid that will light one up and everyone yells at them to go way far away or put it out. So around here, it's totally uncool to smoke cigarettes. It's funny at a football game because there's a mini chant of "Go. Go. Go." when someone lights up - including parents. haha.

yea you say that you will only smoke 1 a day then it turns to well lets just do 2 a day and all of a sudden your smoking 5-6 a day and then its a pack and then you get lung cancer and die.

I wish I could tell you how stupid that post was but the rules state no talking down to anyone.
Nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs on the market. Most people don't know that. And many argua against it. But think about it. Heavy smokers smoke 40+ cigarettes a day. Thats one every 15 minutes or so. Someone using heroin might use 5 times a day. Dont take what im about to say as 100% accurate bc im not looking it up. But its like 100 micrograms of nicotine would kill an elephant. Its a extremely potent and deadly drug. It starts off with a couple of cigarettes to look cool in front of your buddies. And before you kno2 it youd do anything to stop. It's not a fun drug either for the small buzz it brings isnt worth it. You'd be much cooler than your friend if you didnt smoke. Ask any smoker none that I know are elated to smoke. It becomes ingrained in day to day life.
Do what you think is best. For you are the one who will be dealing with it tomorrow

It will start with one. and then two three and so on. My brother chews and when he started he said "idk how someone could get addicted to chew, like i chew but i can just stop anytime." LOL that was a lie. he is addicted. I chewed for two weeks and quit. But its hard, it wasn't for me because i thought it was gross from day one. but I would strongly suggest not to.
