I wake up at 5:30 in the morning every day and I go to bed at 9 usually, but I can't fall asleep until about 10:30 to 11. Then, when I wake up in he morning, I feel really sleepy. Do you know any tips to help me fall asleep faster so I can get the most sleep possible?

I always say Im going to go to sleep really early but it never work out that way. It's as if I have to leave it until the last possible moment before going to sleep (like a big challenge).. except it's not a good thing because I'm not always able to sleep longer in the morning (so I end up having even less sleep)

I sometimes try to force myself to wake up earlier than I normally would to try and make me go to sleep much earlier the next day

As someone who went through what you're going through, I'd say try to change your sleeping habits. Perhaps sleep earlier, read a bit to get you tired, and watch a movie or show to get your eyes sleepy.

Do something to wind down before bed. Exercise or read or play some music. Stretching works pretty well too.

Stay away from "White Lights"(TV, computer, phone, etc.). When you are "tired", it is due to the fact that your body is releasing a hormone known as melatonin, which basically makes you fall asleep, and stay asleep. But this is only after your brain registers from our eyes that it is dark out . If you spend too much time on electronics before you go to bed, your eyes are going to register it as still being daytime, and it's going to be hard to both fall asleep and stay asleep. If possible, I'd stop all electronic interaction about an hour before you plan on going to sleep. This should help. However, if this is not possible, or you're still having difficulties, I'd suggest taking a melatonin supplement, which is a pill you take roughly a half an hour or so before you plan on sleeping. However, you can experience drowsiness(duh), fatigue, nausea, and other symptoms after taking the supplement, so I'd suggest taking a half pill or so, and only a full pill if your cannot fall asleep.

Also, eat a well balanced diet when you wake up, along with a mental activity to do, such as a crossword, in order to help focus your mind, which will help increase your awareness, and help get rid of morning-time grogginess.

Hope this help :D

You may have DSPS or Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome.

Don't use electronics an hour before bed. Try reading from eight thirty to nine. Try some warm milk or camomile tea to calm down. Put lavender under Neath ur pillow. And type in on www.wikihow.com how to get more sleep.

I know this probably sounds kinda stupid (it did to me when I first heard it), but do you usually read, do homework, or go on the computer in bed? Because that could be a problem. You have to program your mind to associate BED with SLEEP and nothing else.
I've started doing that stuff at my desk or on the floor and now I rarely have issues falling asleep...

Stay away from computer, tv and phone screens...any artificial light in fact. It messes with your sleeping patterns

It's important not to do things like computer, eat, or day time activities before bed because it can keep you up. :) Try to relax and read or something a couple hours before bed so you're well adjusted for sleep.
