Do you ever feel like crap when you feel yourself liking someone of the same gender who you obviously have no chance with? Like there is no way anything would come out of it, so you just kind of feel angry about it?

i can relate to this so well.
i went through a whole phase of liking one of my best guy friends. he was/is so sweet and nice to me, and i told him about a month after i developed feelings for him that i indeed liked him. And surprisingly, he didn't punch me in the face :p
For over a year (encompassing 2 girlfriends, his weird confidence phase, and him going through depression) i held onto this idea that "he's going to love me someday". He does love me, but as a brother more than anything :p
i slowly but surely lost interest in him, and now i just find him hot :p and amazingly to this day we're still good friends
Just go with what you're feeling towards all these straight guys. feelings like that go away, and it gives you something to laugh about later on.
