I am 18 and a healthy weight, and have been working (as in standing) since I was in 9th grade. I am just finishing up my first semester of college, but ever since I got here I have had a lot of foot problems. At first, I believed it was because of my old shoes, so I bought two new pairs of memory foam shoes and a new pair of Shoes for Crews work shoes. These have not helped.
I worked at McDonalds before moving onto my new job here on campus, with a week break between. Apparently, at some point in that week of sitting down playing Xbox I developed Fat Pad Atrophy. What is is that the fat between my bone and bottom of foot is either deteriorating or being spread apart and not cushioning my feet as they should. This is a huge problem because it causes me a great deal of discomfort and pain after only a few minutes (less than 5) of standing. Considering I will be back at McDonalds for Winter break, trying to make some money, this is a huge issue.
I need advice. I have tried various insoles but none of them have brought me relief. I cannot afford a foot doctor (and the doctor on campus only seems willing to refer to one) and I do not have health insurance. I don't need a cure, I plan to stop working after Winter so that it can heal, but I NEED to work during Winter to get the money I will need for the next semester. I need relief, or something that can make working tolerable.
Please help.
