i think its there to protect that sensitive region a bit more. thats why you have hair on your head. once your sexual area develops, the hair develops with it adding protection.

Well, I'm not so sure you really need the extra insulation or cushioning (although pubic hair sorta provides both). Pubic hair is also a clear sign of sexual preparedness, it's a sign that you're sexually mature and are able to reproduce.

Remember, people are mammals, so there's still that part of us that communicates things in very simple, non verbal ways. Pubic hair announces to potential mates that we are prepared, sorta like the peacock's tail plume!

I've also heard in some documentary or another that it's there to help trap in the scent of that area. Supposedly females are turned on by the smell of a male's genitals, and males are turned on by the smell of a female's, even if you don't really notice that that's what it is turning you on (and I'm sure the same kind of thing goes for lesbians and gay guys). The hair traps air from escaping from the area, which sure added warmth in the days when humans didn't wear much clothing, but it also traps scent. I found that little tidbit of info sort of interesting.

yeah that makes sense teeny's sis
i think its pheromones.. the natural body scent that attracts the opposite sex.

but i mean as others have said, its an evolutionary thing, as humans have evolved a part of that has resulted in reduced body hair than other animals because well we dont really need it we have clothes and machines (heaters, air con) that control climate for us rather than adapting to the weather outside.

i dont have a problem with body hair though.

QFT

I agree fully with Stephen. Once your sexual areas develope the hair is grown for some amount of protection.

I agree with Teeny's sis. Its there to hold pheromones which turn us on.

For me, its an evolutionary leftover that will eventually go.

I think i heard somewhere there sense girl are so exposed "down there" it help protect from things like idk dirt, bacteria, and maybe some types of viruses. For guys i have no clue but my guess would be although guys are pretty well protected down there, its just because for the first six weeks of life, all embryos are proto-female. its just some things you get from being a girl for 6 weeks. Like why do guys have nipples? I don't know about any of you fellow males out there but i can't lactate. =P

weirdly some males can produce breast milk.
Back on topic!

Im convinced that pubic hair is completley pointless. We never had it for the first 11 years of life, we could survive it, so is it completely necessary?!

We were not producing semen then and if we were it was a very small amount, now because most of us do/about to it acts as insulation and a protection for that area.
