First post so please bear with me lol.

I'm in a sort of predicament. I really like this guy, we'll call him Kyle, who I met over a year ago on an online game and have texted every day since. He was actually the one who took interest first. We have this tight knit relationship, but he lives across country.

Then there's this other guy, Sam, who I've known for a little over a month. He's a family friend and we've even been out for a dinner/movie..felt more like a date though. Anyway, I can tell he likes me and I'm developing feelings for him too since the relationship is more realistic..

I'd like to hold onto reality and keep Kyle as just a friend, but we're so close and I don't want to hurt him...he's even dropped the L bomb and vise versa o.o I feel like I'm cheating on Kyle by liking someone else even though it's a relationship based on just texting and talking over the phone.

I don't really know what response I'm looking for, but just trying to sort out my thoughts. Any input would be much appreciated. Or if anyone has experience with online relationships (Sadly they don't last :( )

I do not think your online relationship
stood much of a chance as a romance.
I am sure Kyle will find himself in the
same situation. Hopefully you can come
to an agreement on this and remain friends.

Online relationships aren't really all they're cracked up to be. They take so much time and dedication, I'm not saying they don't last because I know some of them do, but realistically most don't. If you have a chance at a real life relationship, I'd always say go for that one. I think it's probably best if you keep Kyle as a friend, you seem close anyway so I don't think remaining friends would be a massive issue.

That's why I held back for so long. Anyway, I know we'll stay friends, but it of course won't be the same. Thanks for the reply.

I agree that I should go for the tangible relationship instead of the virtual one. I don't want it to hold me back. I hope it's not an issue to stay friends, but it seems it will be after a period of time. Thanks also for the advice.
