I used to haunt this part of VT, but I've been gone for a long while. I don't know if you guys even remember me. But I haven't quit photographing, and I've improved drastically. I'm in my second year of college now, and minoring in photography (majoring in psychology-I'm undecided about what direction I want to take in life). I've taken classes on digital photography and film photography, as well as darkroom processing, printing digital fine prints, and 2 intensive photoshop classes. I've signed up for digital photography II, lighting for photography, and a photography portfolio and exhibition class for next semester. I'm really fucking excited. I've also formed an amazing relationship with my main photography professor, who's become my mentor. He arranged for me to to be allowed to use some of the school's cameras, and put in a request for the school to order a new, expensive macro lens for my use (as I'm basically the only photography student that's into that). On top of that, my photos were recently published, and one of my photos were even on the cover. And I've begun to accumulate customers who've asked me to take portraits of their kids. The future looks pretty hopeful.

Anyway, here are some of my recent photos. If you guys have any feedback I always appreciate that.

Enjoy:

I remember you, but do you remember me? :)
The 2nd to last photo draws out a lot of emotion and story. The shaggy beard and off placed takeaway container really explain a lot about the man. Even though I don't know anything about his life, he certainly hasn't had it easy. The addition to the saturation and exposure of this photograph. God I love your work <3333

You know how I feel about your work. Your HDR use is so tasteful, your focus is so tasteful, everything is great and you're only getting better. Please don't ever stop taking photos.

Sorry, it's been a while since I've been on here >_< it seems like a lot has changed.

Yeah the man was homeless, and someone had just bought him the container from a food stand a few feet away. I gave him a dollar, talked to him about his kids, and got a few photos. Such a sweet guy.

Thank you <3 I appreciate the feedback.

I've actually yet to work with HDR. I just don't like dealing with tripods, but it's on my to do list. Th photos here are single, middle-grey focused exposures. But thanks mike <3, I hope you've kept up with your photography too.

I caught way more than those two sexing it up. There were just orgies everywhere. I limited how many of these I made public, so no one assumes I'm a ladybug perv.

Really? The last few look like you used HDR on them a bit, they look great.

So you're hiding your true colors as a ladybug perv then :P

Yeah I simulated the effects of HDR by reducing saturation, increasing midtone contrast, adding a touch of yellow, and, for the last one, using a long exposure (I put my camera on a rock to keep it steady).

So you're hiding your true colors as a ladybug perv then :P

Yeah...I guess I can no longer deny it. It's those seductive, scuttly little legs...

Your photos are incredible - I love macro shots :) I really, really love the photo of the boots and the homeless man - they're just wonderful shots, along with all the others ;) Sounds like you've got an awesome photography future emerging as well :)

Thanks for your kind words everyone <3

How did you edit the one of the two ladybugs?

I didn't do much. Basically some tweaks in color; changes in saturation, constrast, exposure, background softening...It's a few weeks older than most of the other photos, before I began using Camera Raw and Photoshop regularly so before I had more options and abilities.

DAYYYUMMM, the second picture is f*ckin hilarious. Did you feel your photography has improved because of better equipment, or the techniques taught in class? Do you think you can apply these techniques to a..let's say..an iPhone camera (I was thinking of Digital Rev's Cheap Camera, Pro photographer challenge)?
