What's your favorite song or band that notary other people know about or listen to? One of my favorites is the song Ghost Towns by Radical Face.

Not many people seem to have heard of Fever Ray (Swedish), Mael Mordha (Irish), Irrbloss (Norwegian) and Eternal Tears of Sorrow (Finnish). Is it just me or is Scandinavian music the best (especially Scandinavian metal)? :P

I think Bitter Ruin still counts even though Amanda Palmer blew them up a bit. My headphones literally can't take Georgia's voice.

The Network. Came out with 1 album in 2003, and were completely unknown until people found out it was a Green Day side project. Still, Green day playing protopunk and new wave. Pretty awesome.
Here's one of their songs

I also listen to VectorXa, I discovered him/them on soundcloud and the music is just like... so abstract, and funny as hell. Plus he did a vocal cover of a Beatles Song, which pretty much sold the deal.

One of my favorite bands has to be Of The Fact. I've seen them once, and they blew me away. You should definitely check them out.

I doubt many people know who Tony Banks is. He is/was the keyboardist for Genesis. He made some great solo albums that flew largely under the radar. The Fugitive was probably my favorite album, it was the only one that he did vocals for on every track.
I would say Mike Rutherford (Genesis guitarist) as well, but many are familiar with his work from Mike + The Mechanics.

This band itself is pretty unknown; I managed to only find as a free download from the late AmieStreet website. Still love this song after three years of drowning my ear buds with it.

The National are pretty awesome. I wouldn't say they're virtually unknown, but they're not exactly mainstream either.
And this is probably my favorite song:

Faster Faster They were a band but broke up before they got big. I found their songs on Pandora and they're really good. You can't find any of their websites because they broke up so they're pretty unknown.
