Why is everyone trying to be so hipster about COD? It's like yeah I get it your trying to be cool by saying you only play Cod 4.

Activision and the other companies only care about making money, quite rightly as well since that really drives their industry- games such as LA Noire and Far Cry had a great idea behind them yet they failed to perform as well money wise.

It really doesn't make me lose any sleep at night if Call of Duty doesn't change it's games- they've got a successful structure and fan base, why change it to try and reach out to people who will stop playing video games in the next 2 years?

I only play CoD on my friend's PS3 to troll people. I miss games like Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, World of Warcraft and other awesome strategy games before they got ruined or forgotten or never even noticed on a wide scale.

It changed quite a bit. I know this without even playing since MW3.
I think COD was actually good at one time, between COD4 and MW2. Both of those games were great. World at War was okay, I really only liked the change in scenery.

But since MW2 I do agree, every COD game has been crap.
I play Battlefield now, because to me it only gets better. And TF2 because it has been fabulous for 6 years now.

Borderlands will always be best game too.

this is the kind of reaction id expected to see from FPS COD fan boys. I know enough about gaming to know that FPS's are ruining gaming. They haven't done anything innovative since halo 3. Its been same game after Same Game and it needs to stop being mainstream. Let something else Be Number 1 for a change. RPG Racing Fighting Platforming Strategy just anything.
shooters have been on top for 3 fucking generations of gaming for Christ sake. Platformers were kings of NES and the SNES era but when PS1 came out RPG's Were Kings (with help from FF7) now when 6th gen-now its Shooter shooter shooter shooter Shooter!
I never really had a problem with it until I actually Played COD. its a series thats getting milked up to the hilt every damn game is the same minimal changes and it still sells like hotcakes. WTF. And COD isent the only Series that does this thing( madden....Every pokemon game since diamond) but its being called one of the best damn series of all time! When did Gamers belittle themselves?

CoD is a really casual and easy to get into games mostly played by college guys who aren't really Gamers per se! So the game is just perfect for them!!
Also MMS (modern Military shooters) weren't kings for 3 console Generations and i wouldn't call every FPS bad if i was you!!
Look at the depth that is Quake and holy shit if u call that a bad game u really don't know ANYTHING!! U can say u don't like but it is objectively a great game with an engine which is soooooooooooooooo smothe!!
Also in Terms of not innovating u forgot the worst genre for Innovation... MMORPGs like literally after WoW everyone tries to beat them at their own game just now maybe with Everquest NEXT we MIGHT see some Innovation!
And don't Forget serieses like Dinesty warrior!! The series where everything that changed between one game and the next was better water!!
Also never look at game Ratings... Lets be honest most of them suck and most hardcore Gamers i kno don't say CoD games are the best!! But they are some mindless fun and really capeable at beeing arcady style shooters!!

Mario isn't TRYING to be original, the creators basically stick to what they're good at. But games like Galaxy and Paper Mario are definitely more creative then slapping a new name on the same game every year and watching people buy it in hordes.

Isn't the point of a shooter also to go against enemies that are tough and to get through well designed, non-linear levels that encourage the player to explore to some extent (ie, Doom, Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior, etc.)? Clearly you have to play some of the games I listed to really understand the roots of the modern day FPS and actually have a basis for your criticism. Right now, your criticism is just "I hate FPS just because I hate them!" In itself, that is just unoriginal, just like the modern FPS games you claim to hate.

Right now, what's in demand on consoles is shooters. If that's what the base wants, unfortunately, that's what the base gets. Obviously you're not part of that base, so good for you. If you don't want to get New Military Shooter 3, then don't get New Military Shooter 3. Just don't go around saying the game is shit if you haven't played it and giving it criticism. I pirate the CoD games when they come out, mostly because I haven't bought a CoD since MW2 (and that was back in...2010 I think). Point of the matter is that the Call of Duty formula has worked for Activision and the developers of the series. Why would they stop doing what they're doing and take a gamble and risk millions upon millions of sales by changing just ONE game? It could literally mean the death of the series if they do that. On top of that, some people simply like the mindless shooting that comes with Call of Duty. That's why a lot of people play shooters. Let's be honest, does anyone remember Doom or Quake for their stories?

Well but Mario 64 isn't the same genre of side Scrolling Platformers Mario Brothers are soooo techinically u can't use it as an example how the Genre of the of those types of games since it isn't the same anymore suure it has the Mario Name attachted to it but that is about all sooo if u want to take THAT into consideration then u also have to look at other FPS and third Person shooters which many are quite different from CoD!! (the Change from 2d to 3d is comparable with the Change from First Person to Third Person ^^ )

Yes I understand trends but trends die And this Hasent. Its Been the Same since Halo 3 and its still a king. WHY IS IT MAINSTREAM? WHY? RPGs did not last this damn long as king so why should this? Well but Mario 64 isn't the same genre of side Scrolling Platformers Mario Brothers are soooo techinically u can't use it as an example how the Genre of the of those types of games since it isn't the same anymore suure it has the Mario Name attachted to it but that is about all sooo if u want to take THAT into consideration then u also have to look at other FPS and third Person shooters which many are quite different from CoD!! (the Change from 2d to 3d is comparable with the Change from First Person to Third Person ^^ )
And once again i don't see the changes in all the Mario Brothers games but u say it is a good Thing and say ist TRUE Mario!! So what is the Problem with CoD never changing?? u dont like it that is UR Problem with it!! People that like it enjoy partly that it stays true to itself!
Well CoD was a HUUUGE Innovation not only with more scripted Story but also bringing killstreaks in (only one really small game hs ever done that b4) soo it actually already achieved Innovation but again u might be to Young to have noticed that!!And i never said CoD is the greatest Thing since sliced bread but it is an easy game to pick up and have a bunch of mindless fun with for a casual gamer!!
As i said b4 u dont like it doesn't mean it is bad!! People like different things and u Need to understand that xDD

im not comparing crash bandicoot to jak and daxters or any other games. Im comparing crash to crash. Crash dident stay the same in EVERY GAME
Sonic dident stay the same MAJORITY of his games(the 3d ones are virtually the same il give you that)

Madden stays the same every year, and that bothers me so much. if I made a thread about how pokemon has been the same since platinum id get murdered. They would find me and kill me.

But u just said CoD is not about the single Player which u only did because u are soo Young! otherwise u would have known that back in the day CoD was all about the single Player!!

I don't really like CoD games all that much soo no!!
But if i was able to always Play a new Version of FF with a constantly good Story (on par with FF 6 7 and 9 ) or SC with a constantly good Story and game design as good as SC:BW or SC2 then yea id love repitition and would enjoy it heck what i dislike most about SC2 that it couldn't repeat the same Level and Standard of game SC:BW is!! Now i still love SC2 and if i would be able to Play new SC2 games for ever i would love it!! sooo with the right genre i wouldnt mind!!

I don't think there's anything wrong with Call of Duty and other FPS games dominating the gaming market. It's simply a genre that people enjoy playing and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't play FPS games any more and even though there might be more of them out there, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy other games less because of it.

Well it is StarCraft the best RTS of all time!! And i would love it if there were constantly new starcraft games even if those were the only games im able to Play!! There is just soo much depth and fun and interesting stuff to it :)
