Go here (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions) scroll a tiny way down to Receive Email and uncheck the boxes.

If you mean email subscriptions, go to Edit Options, find Default Thread Subscription Mode and change the mode to No subscription or No email notification.

Do what jess said, then go to all of the threads and forums you have subscribed to, which could be a lot, and unsubscribe from those threads. Then, you can uncheck the boxes for receiving emails in the user Control Panel. Simple as that.
