It has been approximately 53 days since I stopped cutting, and for the first week or two I felt a lot better about myself and happier, but then it started to go downhill again. I started to slide back down into the pits of despair, and have realized why I had relapsed in the first place, and I really think if I started again, even if it is a bad habit. That I would feel better, at least for a bit. I don't know what to do...

Please stay strong.
Like I said to another member, this solution is temporary and superficial : it just heals your pain for a moment. But then it's a vicious circle.
You have to bring yourself concrete solutions.
Personaly when I had this urge, I used to keep myself busy with things I like : I took a bath or watched TV series. Simple but effective.

You know, self harm isn't always going to be there for you and it's not going to help long term. Sure, it helps short term and it is effective when it comes to that, but you don't need it. You need to distract yourself, once you're passed a certain amount of time ''clean'' it does actually get easier. You may not want to believe that, but it does. Everyone relapses and if you do, that's totally okay. You just need to remain strong and focus all the negativity that you're feeling on something else. Snap elastic bands against your wrist, clench ice cubes, run, scream, write, there are many things you can do to replace self harm. You need to keep your head up and keep fighting the urge.

I'm basically repeating what's already been said, but it's worth repeating. Just keep your chin up and think of the future instead of the past. Things really do get better, I promise, you just have to keep fighting and show that you're bigger than any addiction. It won't be easy, but you really can do it. There is so much more to experience and live for, but you need to look up and see it for a moment. The beauty outweighs the ugly, and by fighting this, maybe you'll see it more.
