Sorry for language, but I'm at my second school, and I've realised I hate school in general. The teachers think they are a much more superior than me and the kids are all too blunt. Im a friendly, funny sociable, achieving student, I'm a little cheeky but not naughty. I just hate education. Im in year 10 (9th grade) and can't wait to college, but it's really starting to put me off Uni and working when I'm older. If things are like this in life, why don't I just live off benefits and get paid for doing exactly what i want? Thanks, sorry for the moan...

You have to go to school other wise you'll be a cleaner, a good paid job involves good grades.

Here we have the typical adult response. Doing bag in school isn't the end of the world, you know...

Well, of course it's not the end of the world, so go right ahead and drop out and truly see how hard it is to get a good job. Unless you're a really intelligent person naturally and now how to pull strings like a master, then school is practically a must. Even people with college degrees find it hard to secure a job, but that college degree certainly puts them a step ahead of any drop out.

I hate to say it like this, but you gotta suck it up because you really don't have a choice. Your life isn't over after you get out of high school. Trust me. There is a bigger, better world out there, but you gotta finish school so you can get to that great world of freedom.

Second school and you hate education. Good for you.

Now think about what you ACTUALLY hate.

You hate peers, you hate educators who're stuck doing their jobs, often in an outdated and out of sync way as most who gain tenure are literally doing the exact textbook education. You wish for a simpler, easier way. How would you live off benefits? What satisfaction and gratification, if not genuine appreciation for learning do you gain by slacking off and doing nothing to get to a place you can thank no one for but yourself? You're put off university, why? Because teachers have to teach, and students just like you go to school with you?

I realize this is a moan, and a vent, and a generalized babble. However, as someone who's had multiple schools go by, multiple exact situations go by, realize it's the system of education, the mandated necessity to get anywhere in life, the systematic oppression of free thought in order to create plenty of working class people to fuel the draining economy run by "politicians" and the government officials who don't earn(note, not all politicians are corrupt) the wage that you pay back in taxes. Do you actually hate learning something new? If so, well. Then yes, you do hate education.

There's a lot of questions you should ask yourself about why the system doesnt work for you. Then ask the propreitors of the system why that is. See where it gets you.

Likely you will regret that type of decision the rest of your life.
I am autistic with motor dysfunction, speech problems and learning disabilities.
Needless to say school is not easy for me.
I am classified as developmentally disabled.
So being actually disabled I could probably qualify for benefits.
But I am also capable of getting through school, so that is what I'm doing.

I struggled a lot in secondary. I really saw no reason to go, and that showed. Luckily, I'm really good at exams so I never failed, but I never did my work. I was in and out of hospitals and my depression and anxiety really killed my performance.

College is really different. It's harder, but I'm an A and B student. There's motivation in college, at least for me. You're trying to achieve something, it's totally up to you if you're there or not, and you have a lot of freedom to choose what your end goal is and the classes you take until then. In college I learned that I didn't hate learning, I hated learning what other people said I had to learn, but I loved learning about the things I was interested in. There are still days I don't get out of bed and go to class, but I have that option and I make up for it. There are days I put off my assignments until the night before the due date but I stay up all night and persevere. And I know at the end of all this is a piece of paper that will allow me to have a long life of waking up and going to a job I love. My dad did the whole college thing and still hates his job. That's my motivation, because I can't imagine having a job I hate and being locked into it because of the family I have to support. It might be really difficult sometimes, but if you can find something you want to do, it's worthwhile in my eyes. Do I think the education system is rubbish? Hell yes, I do. But I go along with it despite that because I can either complain about it or apply myself and get it over with.

I was nearing my adulthood and I was convinced I wasn't going to continue school. Then all my friends started talking about that experience. It was around the time everyone started getting their acceptance letters and they were all beaming with pride, bragging about all the universities that they've been accepted into. And there I was, having worked for a year and a half at dull part-time jobs I couldn't stand, bawling my eyes out because they were getting an experience I thought I could never have and only recently realized I wanted. I still haven't had the experience they are having, but I made a impulsive decision to finish, move to another country, and get a psych degree and here I am.

Just, it's shit. I know it is. But you're year 10. Things are going to go a lot slower if you keep thinking like this so early. They go faster if you "think happy thoughts." Or if you would prefer something less sanguine, keep your head in the future. Your eyes on the prize.

lol dude i had the same problem but you have to grin and bear it because i use to fight with my classmates and teachers because they thought they could fuck with me because im younger and smaller so i kinda stick out in my school but when i got to high school earlier this year i shaped up i have teachers that i like and i have teachers that i hate but you can get use to it by just minding your own buiness and sticking with friends that you like and only friends that you like because they will help you out in your time of need unlike most people at high school that will be your friend until you need help then they will ditch you faster then a jack rabbit fucks. if you follow this it will help you out i personally learned this over the years i hope it help you!!!

^ Yep as he said it's the system, you'll find even teachers hate the system. You just have to put up with school and do your own learning, which is much more satisfying. Plus in uni you'll be able to just do subjects that interest you. And it's not like somebody's forcing you to get a 9 to 5 job, you can do what you want after school.

I think a healthy hate of school is fine, but you shouldn't let it change your path on life. You have to deal with the prick students and the arrogant teachers to get to where you want to be. Yes there are those who quit school and do fine or even make millions, but they are the rare ten or twenty out of the billions that live and have lived on this planet. I don't want to say you "doing exactly what [you] want" to do is impossible if you don't go to college or continue with school, but it certainly will help. Best of luck.

Well getting benefits ain't all that easy. Unless you are in some really ridiculous wellfare state but that's besides the point.

I definitely didn't like school and I ended up working and not going to uni... But I would urge you not to do that if at all possible.

Work shouldn't be just about making money it should be something that interests you and keeps you fascinated about whatever field you are in.

The way the world is going to university and getting a degree is the simplest way to get to that position and career field. Don't let other people and their stupidity force you into stupid decisions.

Just think.. you said you're an achieving student so why don't you persevere to achieve, get those grades, live through uni and live happily ever after with a nice paycheque and a stable job. School may not be everything, but it is definitely worth it!

Sometimes I thought the same way as you, but I just think what I CAN achieve

Why don't I just live off benefits and get paid for doing exactly what i want? We all wish that. Pity reality ain't like so.

Seize the opportunity! If college is just a bore for you, and grades are just easy, than get straight A's! Why? Because a scholarship, that's why! If you want to go to college, earn it, and feel as you have the fullest right to be there, because you earned it with your heart.
