View Full Version : I have a crush on a girl at my Mom's work

My Mom works at a popular retro restaurant and when I've gone to pick her up before there was this really attractive girl there that she always mentions working with and from what I've heard she has the same sense of humor. We had to help her pick up her car from the autoshop too so immediately I had a crush on her. The more I think about it, the more I realize she would be perfect for me but I don't know if she would like me or not. Do you think I should start trying to talk to her or ask her out? She's 20 so she's two years older than me...What do you guys think?

Why not ? That's true that the difference looks big when you're 18 or 19. But after all, a two years gap isn't a big deal.
You don't lose anything trying ;)

I'm worried she won't like me. She's one of those girls who could get anyone she wants...

Chat to her, say hello. There's no guarantees in life, so there's no way to know how things will turn out. There's no rush in getting a date or anything like that yet, so get to know her and at least make a friend.
Good luck

In your opinion, because you like her. Some people may find her not attractive at all because the idea of beauty is subjective.
You should get some self-confidence :( : just because you find someone attractive doesn't mean this person won't do the same for you. You deserve love as much as her.
You're not prideful because you try your luck : it's normal and it's your right.

Aww that's an interesting look on it. I know she's never been in a committed relationship before so who knows?

Oh...that's very mean to criticize your face in such a way.
Be confident!
It's very important to earn her trust first.
So
Mission primo: be her friend.

I suppose being her friend is to be expected so I guess I'll try that first...I'm sorry but I just don't like myself at all.

Self-confidence is the key of achievement.
At the basis of self-confidence is self-acceptance.
So if you hate yourself, how do you want to succeed in life?

I don't know really because I've been contemplating suicide for the past two years.

Yeah I guess I could try. But nearly ten years of bullying and demeaning has really gotten to me.

It's really up to you, my friend.
I understand that it's not easy to forget the past.
If you want to succeed, you'll have to put in the required efforts to pass over those 'hurdles of life'.
For this to be possible; "believe in yourself."
And believe in God!

Nooooo :(
You seem to be such a nice person though !
I know that's not easy, but tell yourself it'll allow you to make strides !
I SWEAR that later you won't regret it, whatever happens.
That's impressive, you know, how blind we are about ourselves.

I always feel like I have to be more but I never can or will be...I can't live like that. Knowing that I have to be something more to impress people or to even associate with them. I'm just...not that...

I totally understand.
That's funny 'cause tonight I was thinking the same thing about me. I always have the feeling that I'm so boring and uninteresting....
But we must wipe out these negative thoughts because they don't "reflect our real value" : we don't have to be more and more to entertain people.
To be happy with our own personality is the point.
PS : generally I fall for a boy's personality, not for his face. Your crush may be like that :)

I seriously doubt you're boring or uninteresting. Any woman with a personality like yours is far from boring or uninteresting
That's really sweet of you. Maybe she would be. I dunno. For the past day or so I'm starting to feel a little numb. Like glass right before it's about to break.

Thanks !!!! You make me happy.
Take your time with her. Don't rush and think about the way you want to ask her out. Not for her but for you : if she turns down, I think you'll blame yourself for how you acted and it's the worst thing (I'm trying to step into your shoes). So you should it all cover.
It may be necessary to remind you that she won't make her mind judging from the way you asked.

Aww! That's sweet :)
I'm kind of worried I won't get the chance to ask her out now anyway because the retro diner closes for the winter and doesn't open up until around April or May and she might not be working there again. So I dunno...Maybe I should give up anyway...

:) :)
Just because the diner closes for the winter, you should give up ?
I'm so sad... There are two reasons :
1) I know I'm the same. I fell in love several times and I almost always missed my chance because I'm not self-confident enough. And now I think it's a real shame because I wouldn't have lost anything.
2) This girl you like would have been a lucky girl ^^

God you're so sweet! I just don't think I'll be getting down to the diner within two weeks before closing to see her or get to know her. Not until at least in the spring when it opens up and maybe I could work there. You really think someone I'm with would be a lucky girl for it? :)

2 years is not a big difference (my parents r 5 years apart in age.)
I'd say-GO FOR IT. Opportunity can only be seized by a tuft of hair as they say and if you feel for it you should go for it. Luck.

Ahah thank you so much ^^
It's a good idea to work there next year.
Yes I think so, because you seem smart and kind. I don't know you in real life, but if you're really like this : you win :) I promise you'll find a really good person (maybe your crush).
Now you just have to work on your self-confidence...

Well thank you. That's sweet of you to say :) My self-confidence is just utterly destroyed though. I've been bullied and hated on for like 8 years straight and I just despise myself to no end...

Because I'm uglier than the other person is and I'm not as charismatic. I'm on the shier side. Gee, I wonder why. I'm nice to everyone but that's how I get treated in return. The one skinny twig bastard bullied me every day and I got to the point where I was ready to beat him up.

"Skinny twig bastard" ?
So it's about your corpulence, right ? :/
It's hard to imagine for me how some people can bully someone because he/she is too thin/coated.
It may be a way to value what they are... Pathetic.
(don't feel forced to talk about that if you don't want to. Anyway I'll be back tomorrow)

During school years, lots of girls prefer really skinny boys 'cause it's "in", that's what they see on TV and magazines.
But once adults, much more girls prefer "chubby boys", because they feel, like, protected.
Anyway they become less conformist and assume their tastes.

A girl told me once she felt safe with me. Not in a loving way but I don't know if that's my voice or the way I look. So you're saying I should wait a couple years when they want a fatass like me? Lol

No, it's not what I mean...
I'm sorry if I don't succeed in expressing myself correctly, 'cause I don't come from an English-speaking country (you've probably noticed...).
What I want to tell you, is that because of the image that convey medias and because of the mentality in school (everyone is prejudiced against everything), there is kind of a cult and even a tyranny of extrem thinness
Personally I do not like too skinny boys, but these are my own tastes.
So sorry sorry sorry if you took it the wrong way, I don't want you to feel bad because of a silly girl..
EDIT : and don't call you "fatass". I sincerly think you must be really cute.

It's fine. You're not upsetting me or anything. I thought you saw me before. I don't have much of a good memory anymore. Most girls I meet are only attracted to athletes and that's understandable. But that's me.
