View Full Version : Most recent posts on top in threads

I've noticed that on here, (and a lot of other forums) the newest posts are always at the bottom of a thread. It has always seemed a bit illogical to me. It would make more sense if the most recent posts are put at the top of all the other posts. :what:

You can change the mode you're in and that will change how the thread is laid out. Under display modes/or in the CP which I'll link you have 3 different options, Linear (Oldest first and Newest First), Hybrid and Threaded.

Scroll down to where it says Thread Display Mode.

http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/faq.php?faq=vb3_board_usage#faq_vb3_thread_display explains what each one is. It is possible to change the order, so I don't see this as an issue. :P

But then you'd have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see what the thread's even about. Also, like Krypotonite said, you can change that; it's a matter of preference. To each their own.

Wow. Really? I can't believe I didn't see that. Yay for my blind stupidity! :whoops:

It's a shame the start of the thread can't permanently be the first post with the most recent posts filed underneath in chronological order.

That would seem so backwards though.

I was actually just thinking of posting just that... It would make everything perfect, if you ask me. I really think the OP should always be at the top so you instantly know what the thread is about.

Yeah but if someone was having a full conversation in the thread through quotes, it'd be a jumbled mess.
