I will be the first to admit that besides the name I know next to nothing about them. So could someone kindly explain the goals/logic of anarchism? From the way I see it, there will never be complete anarchy, just because there will always be some form of order; whether it be warlords or governments.

This is where I get confused, is the ideal world of an anarchist no order? because to have that you would have to kill everyone except yourself on the planet.

Not trying to offend any anarchists out there, I'm just wondering what is actually is.

*Waits for the kumbayah anarchists to show up*

I'm in the same boat I think it's just another fad like all those communist kids who piss me off to no end. Another way to belong to some social group.

But hey... I don't know everything either so would be interesting to read some responses.

the idea of anarchism is to have nothing to do with the government but there is many takes on anarchism like some people's is chaos with leads to one of my favorite book the anarchist cookbook but then these is the people like me that want to just be free of the government and want the people to make the laws and not have corrupt people in the office telling us average people what to do when were struggling and there. well that is my take on it maybe im wrong but i'm pretty sure i'm not

But isn't the saying "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely"?
Doesn't this mean that people will always change when given a position of power and a salary more than the entire lower class's combined?

I mean, having average people make the laws is good, but what happens when uninformed people make the laws? I.E. a heavily religious Anti-LBGT advocate who is just a normal person like you and me makes laws to outlaw everything they don't like?

These people you speak of who will make the laws compose a "government" don't they? I don't understand. It seems like anarchists just want government reform, if they still believe in laws at all. Anarchy to me is no laws/rules or social structure, but then how could society function? Even ancient nomad herders had rules I'm sure.

There are a lot of different types of anarchy. The version I subscribe to's goal is to form a voluntary society rather than one run by coercive rulers.

From the way I see it, there will never be complete anarchy, just because there will always be some form of order; whether it be warlords or governments.
Actually, under most "systems" of anarchy society is still governed, but not in the ways that currently exist.

This is where I get confused, is the ideal world of an anarchist no order?
No, the common goal of all forms of anarchy is to eliminate rulers, not rules.

Disclaimer: I'm not an Anarchist.
This is where I get confused, is the ideal world of an anarchist no order? because to have that you would have to kill everyone except yourself on the planet.
Anarchists are against coercive top-down hierarchal orders - i.e., Governments - not organisation. In my favourite brand of anarchist 'utopianism' the 'states' would be run by a horizontal network of voluntary associations and workers' councils. I'll also add now that true anarchists would be firmly against murder and the freedom to commit any other action that coerces, oppresses and impeaches the rights and liberty of others.

As what Korashk said: anarchy seeks to eliminate rulers, not rules.

actually is.

Anarchism is a system of government where there is no governmental system. Like zero, a number that has no quantity.

I am familiar with anarchism because my dad is one and likes the idea a lot. He is anti-capitalist. I don't think chaos would ensue if governments did not exist, just more disorder in general. Things would get more chaotic to the point that it would stop, remembering that many people can manage things fine with themselves and others without a 'higher-up' system or authority. Large-scale order breaking down does not mean small-scale order comes apart as well. I don't like the way most governments work today at all, but I am not thrilled by anarchy either. It's just a system, each system having it's own advantages and disadvantages .
The only thing I have for anarchism at the moment is that it has had practically no time to at least get tested out, in today's world. Anarchism is one of the many many ideas/systems that I have let myself not form a proper opinion on it. How I see it in the future is a hopeful positive view, but for now it's ambiguous.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other :P .
