50 years since his passing
What do you think would have happened to the world in general if he lived, be as detailed as possible

He would have been re-elected without a doubt, and we certainly never would have went into Vietnam.

I have no idea on what differences there would be, but I guess that his foreign policy would last and the political situation today would be at least quite a bit different, taking the butterfly effect.

YOu can't possibly predict something like that, there are way too many factors determining what could happen next. Maye almost nothing would be different, maybe we would have a world war III

It really isn't possible to determine what would happen.

But I would say a great possibility would be... Nothing. Because really Kennedy was pretty similar to a lot of other presidents and America was just as nosey as it is today.

I agree with Dakota there's no doubt he would have been re elected. From what I've read he did not want us in the Vietnam war but with all his physical problems I'm not sure if he could have made it another full term. Had he lived I'm sure the world and our History would be very different.

you see that there is a effect there would be no vietnam war because he did not want to go to vietnam and there would be alot less vietnam vets that are homeless and my grandfather would still be sane

Maybe. He had a possibility with some southern candidates, due to his lower popularity because of his views on racial equality. But we still would have more than likely still involved ourselves in Vietnam, Kennedy still was not that tolerant towards Communist aggression in the region. But perhaps he would have sought a more diplomatic solution.

Another interesting take on the assassination is Steven King's 9/22/63 book. It's quite an interesting look on the possibilities of what could have happened.

While the Vietnam war might not have happened, what would that absence of war cause? Both the us and the Russians backed their respective sides in the Vietnam war, and this tension could have just lead to another proxy war, or something else like heavier intervention in other nations. Its really quite hard to say, as its basically just guesswork at best.

Though I do think the space program would be more advanced than it is today had he lived.

Check your facts Kennedy was the one who first sent troops to Vietnam and while Johnson and Nixon propagated the war the first troops to die over there did so under his watch.

True he didn't want troops there and I doubt any president besides Bush wanted to get involved in a conflict but he did send troops there and Americans died in Vietnam under his watch. as far as being re-elected most historians believed it would have been an up hill battle depending on who he was running against. You see it's only after a presidents dead and years have passed the myth about them is formed. If you had lived through that period you may have formed very different opinions. I know I can't talk from experience in this but I have heard many conversations in my home from my grandparents and their friends who did.

Kennedy would never have been hailed as such a hero or been so popular if he hadn't been assassinated. The Kennedy family had already begun their downfall from America's royal Family. Kennedy's infidelity would have caught up with him as well
