Is it possible to forgive someone for cheating?

This is just a hypothetical that I was wondering about. The general consensus around here is that if you were unfaithful to your significant other, you need to tell them. That you need to be honest.
But what happens after that? Is it possible for the other person to forgive you and then continue the relationship? Or does cheating spell the end of any relationship?

Just something I was wondering out of curiosity. I would never cheat, myself.

Cheating can be forgiven, but can never be forgotten. The relationship can definitely continue, but both parts will never look at eachother the same way. They may even get the chance to still be a couple just like before, but a lot of time is needed until that happens, and meanwhile the relationship might end. But, of course, it also depends on the situation and on the type of people involved.

As others have said. Personally, what matters is the situation. How many times, compared to who they are as a person. If I'm dating someone for years and years and there was this one slip-up, out of nowhere and completely out of character, I'd forgive it. I've experienced this. But if they're just that type of person, I won't tolerate their bullshit.
