For some reason, every winter i get really depressed. I'm always tired, and i get mad easily. I don't know why. I looked it up online, and found out that i could have Seasonal affective disorder. It's when you get depressed in the winter because of not getting enough sunlight. Is this normal? Does anyone else get depressed in the winter?

Yes it's normal ! As living beings we need sunlight to control our "sleep cycle".
It's physiological : in presence of sunlight, our body stops secreting melatonin, the hormone in charge of our sleep, and then we're dynamic and active. That's why we sleep at night.

You may be more sensitive to this lack than some people.

I experience the same thing, I'm sure a lot of people do. Eat lots of food with Vitamin D. Sunlight helps your body to create vitamin D and a vitamin D deficiency can cause health problems and depression/mood swings.

Old man Winter sodomises me with his cane every year and I hate it. Try to stay upbeat and make sure you meet your micronutrient needs!

yeah, definitely. there's just a really sad gloomy feeling that comes with it being almost pitch black outside by 5pm, not to mention how cold it it!

The seasons definitely effect my mood. I feel a bit more down and a lot more unmotivated in the winter, which is fairly common, and am much better-spirited in the warmer/nicer months. The gloom of the winter is just such a mood killer.

Yeah, unfortunately that just happens to some people. The only advice I can offer: don't move to like Alaska. You'll probably be depressed most of the time there.
