I keep feeling very stressed every time I have a medical appointment. I can feel the pressure building all the way to the doctors, something I never feel at any other time. I can hold it together mostly so it isn't obvious to other people, but the part I can't control is my blood pressure. It's always really high when they check it and causes a fuss when I see a different doctor or nurse. I try to explain but they always want me to go back to have it checked again and again. Last time I had a 24 hour monitor fitted, but of course my blood pressure was normal once I got home and stayed that way until the nurse took it again the next day.
Now I dread going to any medical appointment when I know they will take my blood pressure because it takes the focus away from the reason I actually went to see someone, and I worry they will make me take medication when I don't need it most of the time. What can I do for the best?

Are you sure your blood pressure is up because of that?
Maybe you really do have some medical blood pressure problem, and you're worried to find out if somethings wrong with you?

Ask for anti anxiety meds to trial and see if that helps before you go to the drs offiyou.

I don't like drs office visits either. But my new neurologist seams pretty cool. So far he's been very easygoing and doesn't trivialize things or leave them in treated. So far he seams very proactive, only seen him 3 times.
My regular Dr concerns me. She's super nice but idk, I feel like she won't believe what I say so I end up not telling her stuff that needs checking out. Like my migraine meds. I was so scared she would get mad at me for asking for them that I didn't tell her for 2 years and I suffered to the point of missing so much school and work I ended up kicked out of college BC "no one has migraines that much". I asked my new Nuro and I'm now able to do online school and even some courses at the facilities when before I was sleeping all day and making trips to the er and never could finish even my online work.
I never did ask her though. I got a new Nuro when the first told me he doesn't prescribe that kind of med. Lol, the new guy said "Its non narcotic so no problem, how often do you need it?"

I guess its all about personality, if you feel you can trust them and that they trust you. You might want to find a did doc if he/she stresses you out that much. I probably need a new doc or to talk to my doc about the issue. But as my story with my Nuro goes, its good to try dif docs.
